					                     PLACER COUNTY TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX
            REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANIES

GENERAL INFORMATION:
***This form is to report changes to previously reported Transient Occupancy Tax. ***

The reporting spreadsheet may be filled out electronically using Microsoft Excel or you may print out the form
and complete it manually. To access spreadsheet click on the BLUE "TOT Report Page 1" below.

Certificate Holders must complete the information at the top of the form. The Authorization section must be completed
and signed.

The dates for the reporting period must be listed. If amending more than one period, a separate worksheet must be used
for each period.
All columns, with the exception of the penalty and interest, must be completed for each certificate. The penalty and
interest is to be completed for late filings.

If completing this spreadsheet electronically, the taxable receipts, amount of tax due and total amount due will
automatically calculate based on the amounts entered in the other columns. If completing the spreadsheet manually,
please enter these calculations.

SPREADSHEET INSTRUCTIONS:
CERT # :                            Enter the certificate number assigned to each parcel number.

ACCOUNT # :                         Enter the Revenue Services Account Number. This will be listed on the list of
                                    certificate/account numbers sent with the certificates.
                                    Enter the AMENDED amount (what should have been reported) of rental income on
GROSS RENTAL INCOME:                the top row. Enter the PREVIOUSLY REPORTED amount of rental income on the
                                    second row.

EXEMPT AMOUNT:                      Enter the AMENDED amount of any exemption on the first row. Enter the
                                    PREVIOUSLY REPORTED amount on the second row.


                                    Enter the amount of taxable income - gross rental income less the exempt amount.
TAXABLE RECEIPTS:                   AMENDED on the top row and PREVIOUS REPORTING on the second row. **If
                                    working in Excel, this column is formulated and will automatically calculate the taxable
                                    receipts based on the gross rental income and exempt amounts entered.
TAX RATE:                           Enter the tax rate for the rental property - either 8 or 10.
                                    Enter the amount of taxable receipts multiplied by the tax rate. AMENDED on the top
                                    row and PREVIOUS REPORTING on the second row. **If using this spreadsheet in
AMOUNT OF TAX DUE:
                                    Excel, it will calculate automatically based on the amounts entered in the
                                    corresponding columns.

DIFFERENCE                          Enter the amount owed, or overpaid for the account listed. If working in Excel, the
                                    figures will be calculated.

PLACER COUNTY TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX IS DUE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CLOSE OF THE
REPORTING PERIOD. PENALTY AND INTEREST ARE DUE FOR DELINQUENT FILINGS. THE DELINQUENCY DATE
IS THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH FOLLOWING THE CLOSE OF THE REPORTING PERIOD.

PENALTY:                            If paid within 30 days after the delinquent date add 10% of the tax due amount. If paid
                                    more than 30 days after the delinquent date add 20% of the tax due amount.

INTEREST:               In addition to above penalty, add 1.5% per month, or fraction thereof, of the tax due
                        amount.



                        Enter the total of the tax due plus any penalty and interest. AMENDED on the top row
TOTAL AMOUNT DUE:
                        and PREVIOUS REPORTING on the second row. **If using this spreadsheet in Excel,
                        it will calculate automatically based on the amounts entered.

                        Enter the number of rental units/days available in the reporting period. AMENDED on
DAYS AVAILABLE:         the top row and PREVIOUS REPORTING on the second row. This number is derived
                        by multiplying the number of units available for rent times the number of days in the
                        reporting period. (i.e. 10 units x 92 days = 920 unit/days available.)
                        Enter the number of unit/days occupied in the reporting period. AMENDED on the top
                        row and PREVIOUS REPORTING on the second row. This number requires an
DAYS OCCUPIED:
                        auditable record of the number of units actually rented each day during the reporting
                        period.
                        EXAMPLE: Rental property has 10 units available to rent.
                                           Day 1 - 5 units occupied.
                                           Day 2 - 10 units were occupied.
                                           Day 3 - 7 units were occupied.


                        Total of unit/days occupied = 22

                        Continue this method through the end of the reporting period. The unit/days occupied
                        will then be the arithmetical total of the number of units occupied each day.


                        NOTE: When any unit is occupied more than 1 time each day, then the actual number
                        of times occupied is to be recorded and counted as a separate occupancy.




ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

CHANGE OF ADDRESS OR
OWNERSHIP:              Must be reported immediately to Revenue Services.

                        The holder of the certificate must remit the final return and payment immediately to

                        Revenue Services. The certificate must be returned for cancellation with a request to
