An Expanding Market that’s Yours for the Taking
Part 1 in a 2-part series



The turbocharger service market in North America has histori-
cally been dominated by the diesel service industry. While the 
1980’s showed some promise of potential from the automotive 
service sector, it was relatively short lived. The ADS membership 
has typically characterized the majority of what’s been called the 
“Independent Channel” for turbochargers, and for good reason. 
The turbocharger, along with the fuel system, supplies and con-
trols the engine’s mass flow from which horsepower is produced. 
Further, the fuel system and the turbocharger both contain the 
most precision machining tolerances within the engine assembly. 

Historically, the lines between service providers were pretty 
well drawn in diesel versus gasoline, meaning that most ser-
vice shops that actually worked on the vehicles predominately

   sified ads in “Nozzle Chatter” and on the ADS Web site.
   Service members may place classified ads free of charge when they send their ad via e-mail only, nozzlechatter@diesel.org.
   Free ads will be limited to 30 words; additional words will be charged at a rate of $1.50 (U.S.) per word.
   Monthly rates for Swap & Shop for other categories of membership are:
   members — $1.50 (U.S.) per word with a $30.00 minimum
   non-members — $3.00 (U.S.) per word with a $60.00 minimum
   Telephone numbers, box numbers and zip codes count as one word. “Help wanted” or “situation wanted” ads will not be ac-
   cepted, and ADS does not provide a blind box service for classified ads.
