             Supply and Installation of Kitchen Cabinets, Vanities and Countertops

1.0        GENERAL
           1.1        Refer to Master Specification, Division 1 - General Requirements, Section 01110 -Summary of
                      Work.
           1.2           Related Work:


           1.3           References:
                      1.3.1           Minimum acceptable standard AWMAC "Custom Grade".
                      1.3.2           Plywood to be CSA 0121-M1978.
                      1.3.3           Particleboard to be Can 3-0188.1-M78 Grade "R".
                      1.3.4           Plastic Laminate to be CAN 3-A172-M79 Type 2 (post-forming) 1.27 mm thick.

           1.4           Warranty/Guarantee:


           1.5           Submittals:


           1.6           Datum’s/Sketches/Layout:


           1.7           Site Conditions/Property Lines:
                      1.7.1           The Contractor shall take all necessary measurements in the field to ensure correct
                                      dimensions and fit.
                      1.7.2           The Contractor is to ensure that the cabinetwork may be fabricated and installed in complete
                                      accordance with the design drawings and referenced standards.
                      1.7.3           In the event of a discrepancy, notify your owner's representative immediately, prior to
                                      proceeding with the installation.

2.0        PRODUCTS
           2.1        Standards and Materials:
                      2.1.1       Cabinets to be European style, flush faced, frameless construction. Door hinges to be fully
                                  adjustable and concealed. Fixed shelving throughout. Non-marring, easy clean interiors.
                                  Colour to be chosen by the owner from standard colour range.

                      2.1.2       Tops, bottoms, gables and shelves to be 5/8" (16mm) thermally fused melamine overlaid on 48
                                  P.C.F. particleboard. All exposed edges to be banded with PVC edge tape, applied with an edge
                                  bonding machine.
                      2.1.3       Exposed gable ends and fillers to be 5/8" (16mm) thick, thermally fused melamine overlaid on
                                  48 P.C.F. particleboard exposed faces to match door fronts. Inside face to be white melamine
                                  cabinet liner.
                      2.1.4       Cabinet backs to be 13 mm thick, medium density particle board, finished with 5 mil white
                                  acrylic vinyl finish or 3 mm hardboard with hidden 16 mm thick hanging rails suitable for
                                  hanging against stud walls. Finish to match the white interiors of the cases, cover all screws
                                  with vinyl caps.
                      2.1.5       Cabinet base (toe kick) to be melamine or particle board
                      Note: Do not provide cabinet backs at the kitchen sink base or vanity base locations
                      2.1.6       Doors and drawer fronts to be 5/8" (16mm) thick thermally fused melamine overlaid on 48
                                  P.C.F particleboard. Pattern two sides, face grade material. All exposed edges to be banded
                                  with PVC edge tape applied with an edge-banding machine.
                      2.1.7       Drawers to be 5/8" thermally fused melamine, overlaid on 48 P.C.F particle board on two sides,
                                  bottoms, backs and sub-front.
                      2.1.8       Drawer slides to be a white epoxy coated finish, bottom side mounted, with a minimum load
                                  capacity of 100 lbs. Blum #BS230E or equal.
                      2.1.9       Hinges to be self closing, clip hinge 110 degree opening, Blum #75-M-1580 or equal with hinge
                                  plate #L173-L-8100 or equal.
                      2.1.10 Cupboard door and drawer pulls to be Type "D", 1/4" diameter, tube wire pull, chrome finished.
           2.2        Range hoods:
                      2.2.1         Range hood ductwork is to be enclosed inside upper cupboards and above the cabinet using
                                    matching finishes.
           2.3        Countertops:
                      2.3.1         Countertops shall be a full wrap, one-piece, factory post formed high pressure laminate
                                    bonded to a particleboard core, continuous from front edge to an integral 4" high back splash
                                    and returns. Colour to be chosen by the owner from the standard colour range
                      2.3.2         Countertop shall be 3/4", high-density particleboard substrate, covered with Wilson Art (or
                                    equal) plastic laminate. The back splash shall be 4" high and continue behind the range. A
                                    tight fit of laminate between counter top and back splash is required.

3.0        EXECUTION:
            3.1       The Contractor shall:
                      3.1.1         Ensure the work is of the highest industry standard, providing neat flush surfaces where faces
                                    meet. Verticals must be plumb, horizontals must be level. Cabinet doors and drawer fronts
                                    must line up in both horizontal and vertical planes.

                      3.1.2         Remove and legally dispose of existing kitchen cabinets and vanities. All materials removed
                                    become the property of the Contractor and are to be disposed of off site.
                      3.1.3         Supply and install new kitchen cabinets and vanities as listed in the Summary of Work and
                                    accompanying sketches and drawings (where applicable).
                      3.1.4         Anchor all sections firmly for long life under hard use.
                      3.1.5         Complete all plumbing as required by the removal of the existing cabinets and installation of
                                    new cabinets.
                      3.1.6         Reinstall existing sinks and faucets unless otherwise noted in the Summary of Work
                      3.1.7         Supply and install new angle stops and supply lines to faucets.
                      3.1.8         Replace waste plumbing from trap to drain stack.
                      3.1.9         Remove and reinstall range hoods and ductwork ensuring that the junction of the range hood to
                                    the ductwork is properly sealed to prevent leakage.
                      3.1.10        Remove and reinstall all electrical lights, switches and receptacles as required, unless
                                    otherwise noted in the Summary of Work.
                      3.1.11        Completely check and adjust all cabinet units and hardware for proper operation prior to
                                    requesting final inspection.

4.0        STORAGE AND HANDLING
            4.1       The Contractor shall:
                      4.1.1         Provide for storage and handling during and after fabrication and prior to installation.
                      4.1.2         Adequately protect finished surfaces during delivery, handling, storage and installation.
                      4.1.3         Use proper delivery and installation equipment to prevent damage to existing walls and floor
                                    surfaces.

5.0        CLEAN UP:
           5.1      The Contractor Shall:
                    5.1.1         Clean up all dust, sawdust, crating materials, waste materials and debris as a result of the work.
                                  Clean the inside and outside of all drawers and cabinets.
