NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Datatel today announced the start of the 29th
Annual Datatel Users’ Group (DUG) National Conference and Expo at the Gaylord National Resort and
Convention Center near Washington, DC. DUG attendees will come from 359 higher education institutions
representing more than 2.6 million students. The conference theme this year is “Be Inspired,” with the goal of
encouraging attendees to leverage ideas shared at the conference to become catalysts for change on their campuses.

Over 200 Datatel customers will present their experiences in realizing dramatic results using Datatel solutions
including Recruiter, Portal, Intelligent Learning Platform, Reporting and Operating Analytics, and Colleague. They
will discuss how these products help them to recruit and retain students while reducing costs by automating
administrative tasks.

The three-day conference is preceded by a day-long executive forum where CIOs and senior leaders from nearly
150 progressive institutions will hear strategic presentations about technology direction from industry thought leaders
and Datatel experts.

On Tuesday, Oklahoma City Community College and Olivet Nazarene University will be recognized with the 2011
Partners in Excellence Awards. Datatel clients qualify for this award by demonstrating exemplary collaboration and a
commitment to excellence in higher education. Award criteria include active participation in the Datatel client
community and sharing of best practices; innovative IT practices with Datatel products; active involvement in the
advancement of higher education issues; and leadership in providing quality services for faculty, staff, and students.

Another notable event at DUG will be recognition of Datatel’s most loyal customers. This year, Datatel will
recognize 23 institutions who have achieved their 20-year customer anniversary, and two who have reached 30
years. Datatel now counts 122 higher education institutions who have been clients for more than 20 years.

“We are honored that so many customers have placed their trust in Datatel for so many years,” said Datatel
President and CEO John Speer III. “This vibrant conference is testament to the value of our client community sharing
best practices with each other and getting the most out of their Datatel investment.”

Conference attendees and other interested parties can learn more about DUG at conference.datatel-users.org and
can follow conference updates at Twitter #DUGConf. Conference session details and other information are also
available for smartphones and iPod touches using the “DUG 2011” app, downloadable from the Apple, Blackberry,
and Android app stores.
