Review – Reflect – Renew: Project Insight Gained and Lessons for the Future

The build-up to 2010, with South Africa’s physical and IT infrastructure, hospitality and
business service development to meet it’s obligations as host of the 2010 FIFA World Cup
resulted in an enormous number of projects with 2010 as deadline. By September 2010, the
event will be over and the world will know how South Africa performed as host and how it
delivered on the projects that were completed in time for this auspicious year. In the rest of
the world, the past 18 months has presented other project management challenges. The
global recession, new demands for sustainability and minimising the environmental impact of
projects, political changes, increased competition...these all called for new ways of thinking,
better ways of delivering. Over the same timeframe, project management itself has matured,
with new additions to the body of knowledge, new research undertakings highlighting trends,
and in some countries, steps towards legislation to formalise how project management is
practiced. All of this makes late 2010 an ideal time to review what we have achieved, reflect
on what the past few years have taught us, and apply these lessons learned to renew our
approach, practices and mindset for the challenges of the future. Project Managers, not only
in South Africa but from around the world, will have much to share on these three themes,
whether they were observers to or participants in the major projects that had 2010 as a
deadline, or affected by the other factors at play.

PMSA is proud to host its 6th Biennial National Conference in 2010. This event continues to
be the only non-commercial, national project, programme and portfolio management
conference presented by a professional association in South Africa. It attracts delegates
from South Africa and abroad and has earned respect and recognition from the global
project management fraternity as a world-class event.

Its comprehensive programme presents a learning opportunity through workshops and
presentations that include:
      Case studies and lessons learned on projects large and small in a wide spectrum of
       industries
      Trends and best practices presented by local and international leaders in project
       management and its related disciplines
      Findings of current, relevant research into many aspects of the project, programme
       and portfolio environment
      Panel discussions that challenge popular thinking and open issues up for debate
      Exhibitions, demonstrations and displays by leading product and service providers in
       the project management space.
      Recognition of projects and project managers

Among the goals and objectives of the 2010 Conference are to:

      Promote knowledge sharing between delegates from different countries and
       backgrounds, with similar experiences
      Develop project management as a discipline by providing a forum for debate and
       discussion
      Enable formal and informal networking between like-minded individuals, in the
       process promoting collaboration
      Address capacity development in project management and identify areas of concern
      Acknowledge the interdisciplinary nature of project management and identify best
       practice in the various industries in which it is practiced
      Equip workshop attendees with best-practice knowledge and skills that can
       immediately be applied on their projects

PMSA has selected the new OR Tambo venue at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference
Centre close to the airport in Johannesburg as the setting for this years’ conference. As
always, a major feature over the three day event is the exhibition hall where activity is
directed during all refreshment and meal breaks.

Over the years, the conference exhibition has grown in terms of size and diversity of
exhibitors as more and more product and service providers realise the importance of being
associated with, and seen at, this definitive project management event.

The PMSA website www.pmisa.org.za is being updated as new information becomes
available. The associated call for papers and event announcements are being distributed to
the relevant sources and publications.

On signing and returning this form and on payment of the applicable deposit, the sponsor is
entitled to the benefits associated with the chosen package, but will be expected to supply
certain information, such as high-resolution company logos, delegate and exhibitor
information etc. It is essential that the nominated sponsor contact person is in a position to
adhere to deadlines for submitting these items, to derive the intended benefit.

PLATINUM CONFERENCE PARTNER

The investment required for this unique and prestigious sponsorship package is
R120 000.00 exclusive of VAT

(Just one Platinum Partnership is available)

This includes the following:

      Branding (by means of banners or similar effects) of all conference venues including
       the registration area
      Inclusion of logo and tagline: Platinum Partner, on the main conference banners,
       letterheads, adverts, invitation, programme, menus and other relevant printed and
       electronic conference correspondence
      Sole podium branding in the plenary sessions
      Three free full page adverts in Project Net Magazine. This means one full page
       advert in three separate issues of the partner’s choice in 2010 and 2011.
      Prime branding space on the PMSA website and the conference electronic
       newsletter
      Banner Advert on PMSA website for the three months prior to the conference and
       duration of the conference.
      An opportunity for a senior company representative to contribute to the opening and
       closing presentations.
      An opportunity for a company representative to deliver a presentation in one of the
       break-away presentations.
      Interview with ProjectNet and / or The Project Manager editor to create opinion
       pieces for publication in these magazines (the focus / topic must be non-commercial).
      Five free delegate places for all three days of the conference (including gala dinner
       tickets.)
      Two tables of ten people each at the Conference Banquet (This includes the five free
       delegates as identified above, hence 15 additional gala dinner tickets)
      A standard Exhibition Stand in prime position as well as two free exhibitor entrance
       tickets for the duration of the conference. (The exhibition will be housed in the room
       where lunch and coffee breaks will be held daily)
      Logo placement on the front cover of the CD of proceedings
      Space on the CD proceedings for up to 2MB of company information
      Permission to undertake seat drops in the plenary each morning of the conference

      A 20 % discount on the applicable delegate rate for up to 5 company employees or
       clients.

The investment required for this sponsorship package is R50 000.00 exclusive of VAT

This includes the following:

      Branding (by means of banners or similar effects) in the main registration area
      Inclusion of logo and tagline: Gold Partner, on the main conference banners,
       letterheads, invitation, programme, menus and other relevant printed and electronic
       conference correspondence
      Three half page adverts in Project Net Magazine. This means one half page advert
       in three separate editions, of the partner’s choice in 2010 and 2011.
      Branding space on the conference pages of the PMSA website and the conference
       electronic newsletter
      Three free delegate places for all three days of the conference (including gala dinner
       tickets.)
      One table of ten people at the Conference Banquet (This includes the three free
       delegates as identified above, hence 7 additional gala dinner tickets)

PLENARY AND SESSION SPONSORSHIPS

Investment required: R5 000.00

The conference programme includes morning plenary sessions featuring the keynote
speakers, and industry / topic specific sessions that are run in individual sessions / streams
after lunch. Early indications are that there will be an academic stream, a workshop stream,
and an industry each day. Each session / stream will include up to 6 presentations. This
presents a focussed opportunity for a company to brand themselves in line with a particular
topic, speaker or discipline. While the stream themes are finalised just prior to the event,
they are likely to include:

Financial Terms and Conditions

As with any sponsorship opportunity as soon you financially commit to becoming a sponsor,
your name will be associated with the conference and exposure will commence. Should
more than one company wish to take up the sole Platinum Partnership, the status will be
awarded to the company that signs and makes payment first (*the due date for the deposit
would therefore serve as the latest payment date and the first to pay following invoicing will
be awarded Platinum Status).
