                       educational institution previously attended (in case
                        of candidates passing the qualifying examination
                                     from Pune University).

                               Candidates who are appearing for the
                        qualifying examination in the current academic
                        year are NOT required to submit this document

                                     than Pune University).
                            Applicable to candidates who have passed

                         competent authority (applicable to candidates
                        belonging to reserved categories of Maharashtra
                                           state only).

                          5. Non-creamy layer certificate if candidate
                  belongs to NT-C, NT-D, or OBC Categories of
                                 Maharashtra.

                  6. Birth certificate / school leaving certificate.

                7. Certificate from a competent authority (District
                 Civil Surgeon) showing minimum 40% physical
                disability for candidates having physical disability.


Test Syllabus     There will be two papers (Paper I & Paper II)

                   Paper I (90 minutes) is of the objective type,
                  consists of 100 multiple choice questions up to
                   Intermediate (10+2) level covering Physics,
                   Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics,
                    Statistics, Logic, Reasoning and English.

                Paper II (90 minutes) is also of the objective type,
                consists of 100 multiple choice questions based on
                syllabi of bachelor's degree level courses that are
                         listed in the section f: Eligibility.

                  The question paper would be divided into two
                                  sections viz.

                Section-A covering areas of Life Sciences (Botany,
                Microbiology, Biochemistry, Zoology, Cell Biology,
                  Genetics, Environmental Biology, Evolution,
                           Molecular Biology etc.) and

                    Section-B covering areas of Physical and
                   Mathematical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry,
                   Mathematic Paper I - 100 All questions are
                                  compulsory

                   Paper II - 100 All questions are compulsory.

                 Negative marking is applied in both, Paper I &
                 Paper II, wherein 1 mark is deducted for every 4
                                      incorrect answers

      Fellowships         The top fifteen students perusing M.Sc. will receive
                              fellowship of Rs.2,000/- per month, which are
                                  instituted by IGIB (GN Ramachandran
                          fellowships) and the Department of Biotechnology,
                           Govt. of India. It might also be possible to award
                          studentship to a few other students from DBT. The
                          initial award of the scholarship/studentship and its
                           continuance would be based in the decision of an
                            interviewing committee and performance by the
                           candidate in the entrance test/internal assessment
                                    tests/semester-end examinations etc.


 Merit List / Admission    Admission should be done as per ordinance 181.
         Rules
                           Selection is based on marks in the Entrance Test
                                                 only.

                            In case two applicants secure the same marks in
                               the entrance test, their performance in the
                           qualifying examination will be taken into account
                                     in the preparation of merit list.

                          Only reserved category candidates from the State
                          of Maharashtra are eligible for the 50% reserved
                                   seats. (Please see item 4 above).

                           The remaining 50 % seats will be filled in on an
                                 'All India' basis in Open Category.

                          SC, ST, DT NT and OBC applicants from the other
                           states will be considered for admission in the open
                                                 category.
                            Admission should be done as per ordinance 181.
                             Minimum marks requirement for the students
                                from other University is as follows: NOT
                                                             APPLICABLE.
