                                           Business Meeting
                                     Tuesday, December 01, 2009
                                        La Quinta Senior Center

Present: President Bev Montgomery, Vice President Margie Curtis, Vice President Anne Harpeneau,
Treasurer Anita Zanesco, Secretary Maggie Boriski, Directors Liz Kennedy and Jackie Wilmeth.
Members present: Robin Brown, Liz Clapper, R.N., Christine Duranceau, M.D., Rose Mary Jameson,
Elaine Reynolds and Inge Vorderwinkler. Guests: Trish Klimkiewicz, S.I. Beaumont/Banning.

Inspiration was read by Margie Curtis.

Minutes: A motion was made by Anita Zanesco, seconded by Liz Kennedy to approve the minutes of the
November 3, 2009 Business Meeting as emailed and unanimously approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Anita Zanesco distributed the Treasurer’s Report showing a balance as of
November 30, 2009 of $4,281.94.

Induction of New Member: Jackie Wilmeth inducted our new member Rose Mary Jameson and
presented her with the Soroptimist Book and Pin. Rose Mary shared her background and desire to
support Soroptimists ideals and goals.

Thank You: President Bev and all present thanks Liz and Jim Clapper for a wonderful evening and
Holiday dinner on November 21st. $160 was raised. Bev also noted Jim’s recent heart problems and that
he is home and doing well.

Programs: Margie Curtis reviewed upcoming meetings and potential program speakers noting the need
for larger attendance at program meetings.


Election of SI President Elect: President Bev noted two Soroptimists are running for President Elect—
Alice Wells and Victoria Hobbs. A motion was made by Anita Zanesco, seconded by Christine
Duranceau to vote for Alice Wells, GWR; passed unanimously.
Project Sierra: President Bev explained the request for each Club to support in some way “A Family and
A Future”. Request is to bring awareness in our community of a particular family in need. March 1st is
the due date.


Salvation Army Bell Ringing: Eight Soroptimists from our Club collected a total of $497.21. There was
confusion as to whether this amount would be given directly to the House of Hope or whether the funds
would go to Salvation Army services which could assist ladies in transition after leaving the House of
Hope. Margie Curtis will clarify.

WOA/VRA: Chairperson Anita Zanesco noted the VRA deadline has passed and no applications have
been received. This is the same as last year. She will contact Dona Margaret Henderson for a recipient
from another area. WOA applications are due December 15th.

Rose Mary Jameson and Liz Clapper volunteered to ring bells in the future if the Club decides to continue
with the project.
Golf Committee: Chairperson Anita Zanesco noted the Nicklaus Tournament Course is at the South end
of Jefferson. We are to report at 7:00 am at the Club House wearing Red Shirts and White Pants.

Anita gave out duty assignments. A discussion was held regarding gift baskets and due to lack of gifts,
no get together will be held to create baskets.

There will be no Hole-in-One prize as there is no car or cart to give away.

Raffle Tickets will by $1 each and 6 tickets for $5 and will be red in color.

Linda Irwin has donated water bottles and odometers as tee prizes. Anita will also obtain bottles of wine
to give each player if tee shirts or other gifts are not forthcoming.

Advertising was done on the Coaches Show by Bev Montgomery, On Radio 103 by Liz Kennedy and
Ginger Jeffries is to do an interview with Val on Channel 3 News at noon Dec. 3rd.

There a total of 30 players.

Centerpieces (8) will be $20 each and delivered to the Club on Sunday morning around 10 am.

Buffet entrees will be a vegetable lasagna, chicken dish and a beef dish.

Robin Brown will pickup the Golf Statue at the Dunes Course and transport it to the Nicklaus Course.

Banner and Plaques will also be brought to the Course.

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 8:40 am with the Soroptimist Pledge.
