FORTHCOMING CAMPUS WIDE WAN SETUP
MESCE is setting up a campus wide network to interconnect all the 11 buildings into a single LAN. The networking involves cabling of the
blocks internally, along with the backbone connectivity of 1 Gbps, which interconnects the blocks. Apart from the department buildings backbone
connectivity will also extend to the Library/Auditorium and the ladies/Men’s hostels. Internal Networking will be based on Cat 6 structured cabling.
The Layer III managed core switch will be placed in the Network Operation Centre (NOC) in the Ground Floor of the Main Building which
will cater the main distribution facility and control all the switching functions. Managed Layer II switches will be placed in each building as
distribution switches to cater the Intermediate Distribution Facility, through which the connectivity to the central switch w ill be established. The
existing Edge switches in these buildings will be connected to the distributed switches.
A combination of 50/125 um Giga Multi mode OFC and 9/125 um Giga Single mode OFC will be used for interconnectivity between blocks
based on length restriction. To Architecture block and Men’s hostel, single mode OFC will be used and with in the main campus multi mode OFC will
be used.
A Linux PC based gateway will be there in each department. A 2 Mbps leased line internet connection, will be connected to the central
switch in the Main Block through a Router. M

The department upgraded its computing facilities of the Computer centre in the new building. The computer centre
has 32 terminals with state of art hardware configuration. These computers are installed with latest technical
software packages like OrCAD release 10, Max PLUS +2, MATLAB 6.5, MPLAB, Keil, UMPS, Quartus II, etc. The department
has a very good Local Area Network that connects 50 terminals located in various laboratories and staff rooms.
Mandatory 69
An ISDN connectivity of 128 Kbps is made available at all nodes. A new software is developed in association with
MES- IIT for keeping the student personal and academic details and is being hosted in the department website.

A 2 Mbps leased line internet connection, will be connected to the central
switch in the Main Block through a Router.

cooperates with the Management in all the activities for the welfare of the students and in
the maintenance of a healthy relationship.
Consultancy Cell
All the departments have close interaction with industries and other organizations within
and outside the State for mutual benefit. Real time problems from the industry are taken up
by the students for their projects. Experts from industry and business participate in
teaching programme. Testing and consultancy work for various institutions are being done
by the department faculty.
Students’ Chapter of Professional Bodies
Presently we have student chapters of the following professional bodies
ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education)
IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)
CSI (Computer Society of India)
Institute of Architects
Institution of Engineers
The student bodies are quite active and organize various programmes, such as seminars,
group discussions, paper presentation, exhibitions etc. They also invite eminent
professionals and industrialists in each discipline to participate in such programs.
