Online: We encourage all users to try our new Webtrac online registration system. To get to Webtrac, visit our website at enjoyburlington.com, here you will find a link to Webtrac. In Webtrac you can view program details and register and pay for classes. Phone: Call us at 864-0123 during business hours to sign up for programs over the phone. Fax: You can fax in your registration form. Our fax number is, 862-8027. Mail: Feel free to mail in your registration form along with a check or money order. Payment Methods: We accept cash, checks, or Visa/MasterCard/ Amex. ****Please note that some of our camps will require additional registration forms to complete the enrollment process. If the camp(s) you choose are full you will be placed on a waiting list and notified. *** REFUNDS Refunds will only be available up until one week prior to the first day of our programs, unless the program is cancelled by the department. Refunds are subject to a $10 administrative fee. SCHOLARSHIPS A limited number of scholarships are available to qualified Burlington residents. Scholarships are awarded based on family size and income and cover 50% of the cost of the program. Please call the Parks and Recreation office for an application. INSURANCE The Department does not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. Please review your own insurance plan to be certain that you have proper coverage. Campers learn skills appropriate to their age level and most importantly , have FUN! Fee includes T-shirt and bus pickup at three sites in Burlington. DATES: August 4 - August 8 AGES: 1st - 6th graders TIMES: 9:00AM - 12:00 Noon LOCATION: Calahan Park FEE: $55 resident / $65 non-resident CHAMP CAMP (41550) Champ Camp is a State licensed school age child care / day camp program for children entering grades K-5 in the fall. We offer the camp at three sites within Burlington. Activities will include arts and crafts, swimming, recreational games, athletic activities, music, nature walks, special events and weekly field trips. In addition to swim lessons, we will also offer soccer, tennis, nature programming and adventure programming at different times throughout the summer! Includes lunch and an afternoon snack. DATES: Session I: June 23 - June 27 *Session II: June 30 - July 3 (no camp 7/4) Session III: July 7 - July 11 Session IV: July 14 - July 18 Session V: July 21 - July 25 Session VI: July 28 - August 1 TIMES: 9:00AM-5:15PM (Extended care 7:45AM-9:00AM) DAYS: Monday-Friday LOCATIONS: C.P. Smith, Flynn, Edmunds AGES: K-5th graders (entering in the fall of 2008) *** youth entering K will only be accepted at the Edmunds Program *** the minimum participation age is 5 FEE: $120 per session for residents / $135 non-residents $150 / $165 for the extended care option. *Reduced rate of $110/$125 for session 2 ***Back for Summer 08*** The Edmunds site will be broken into two programs. One program will be for children entering K-1st grade and one program will be for children entering 2nd-5th grade. BASEBALL CAMP (41140) Our Department will once again team up with Racquet’s Edge to offer one session of this extremely popular one-week camp. Camp fee includes baseball instruction, games and camp T-shirt. Camp limited to 36 participants. DATES: June 23 – June 27 TIME: 8:30AM - 11:30AM LOCATION: Schifilliti Park AGES: 8-12 FEE: $90 resident / $100 non-resident www.enjoyburlington.com SKATEBOARD CAMP (42306) Youth ages 8-16 are invited to learn from some of Vermont’s finest boarders and in-liners. This camp is geared to skaters with beginner to intermediate skills. Skaters will be split into groups based on abilities. Talent Skate Park staff will be directing the camp and teaching participants tricks such as pushing, ollieing, dropping in, board slides and grinds. All skaters must have helmets that clip shut and wrist guards; helmets and wrist guards are available to rent for $12 for the week. Limit 40. DATES: June 16 - June 20 LOCATION: Burlington Skate Park FEE: $115 resident / $130 non-resident TIMES: 9:00AM - Noon AGES: 8-16 TENNIS CAMP (41711) In this camp players will be introduced to tennis skills. Learning scoring, strategy, specialized drills and fitness training will also be included in this beginner / advanced beginner level camp. Professional staff from Racquet’s Edge provide instruction. Tennis racquets and balls supplied to all participants. Campers also receive a T-shirt. Aug 4-8 (1st-6th grade) 1:00-4:30 Calahan CO-ED YOUTH BASKETBALL CAMP (41130) Camp director is former B.H.S. Boy’s Head Coach, Dick Falkenbush. Coach Falkenbush assembles an excellent staff of counselors. Special equipment including 8 1/2 foot baskets and smaller size basketballs are utilized to teach campers fundamentals. Fee includes T-shirt and bus pick-up from (3) sites in Burlington. DATES: June 16 - June 20 TIME: 9:00AM - 12:00 Noon AGES: 1st - 6th graders FEE: $55 resident / $65 non-resident LOCATION: Edmunds Middle School - 1st & 2nd graders Burlington High School - 3rd, 4th ,5th, 6th graders FEE: ON THE MOVE (41801) This “happening” coed day camp keeps campers on the move enjoying Burlington’s parks and beaches. This year will feature a Lake Champlain shipwreck search, river rafting, as well as in-line skating, hiking, mountain biking, arts, field sports, sailing, kayaking, wind surfing, swimming and field trips. Participants will receive lunch daily and a tie-dyed “On the Move” t-shirt. DATES: Session I: June 23 - July 3 (no camp 7/4) Session II: July 7 - July 18 Session III: July 21 - August 1 Monday-Friday 6th-8th graders (in the fall of 2008) TIME: LOCATION: FEE: Extended Day: FEE: 9:00AM-3:00PM Burlington High School $170 resident / $185 non-resident 3:00PM-5:00 PM $225 resident / $240 non-resident DAYS: AGES: OPEN STAGE DRAMA CAMP (41641) This three week intensive acting camp will include workshops in acting, improvisation, theatre games, scenes and monologues during the first week. The second week will include rehearsal of a comedy play written by the students, learning lines and creating characters for performances at local senior canters, day camps and hospitals. Please bring swim suits, as we will swim at North Beach. Price includes lunch and students are responsible for bringing a snack. Enrollment is limited to 18 participants. DATES: July 7 - July 25 (M-F) TIME: 9:00AM-4:00PM LOCATION: BHS Auditorium AGES: 8-13 year olds FEE: $325 resident / $340 non-resident OPEN STAGE PERFORMANCE CAMP (41645) Students will improve acting and improvisational skills while performing a play by Marc Lachapelle. We will be touring the play around the Burlington area. This camp is for students who have had previous acting experience and / or those who have participated in previous Open Stage Drama camps. Price includes lunch, students are responsible for bringing a snack. Enrollment limited to 14 participants. DATES: July 28 - August 8 (M-F) TIME: 9:00AM-4:00PM LOCATION: BHS Auditorium AGES: 11-15 FEE: $250 resident WAGS AND WIGGLES (41677) Animal Care Camp This educational camp will provide children with a foundation for teaching and encouraging others how to maintain healthy relationships, proper treatment, as well as respect for the animal world. Participants provide their own lunches and snacks. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants. DATES: July 28– Aug. 1 TIME: 8:30 am –5:15 pm Meeting Place: Gosse Court Armory AGES: Ages 9-12 FEE: $215 resident / $ 230 non-resident WILDERNESS SURVIVAL CAMP (41684) In this one week camp, participants will start w/ nothing day one and throughout the week they will earn items for that will help them “survive” an overnight trip at the end of the week. Items that participants will earn include: a compass, thermometer, bandana, plastic mug, etc). The overnight trip will take place on the Thursday during camp at a natural area within a 2 hour drive of Burlington. During the overnight, participants will sleep in a shelter that they build and they will learn how to use the items they earned throughout the week. SAILING CAMP (at the Community Sailing Center) (40050) Dates: July 21-25 Time: 9:00am-5:00pm (includes an overnight trip on Thursday, 7/24) Meeting Place: Schmanska Park Barn AGES: 9-11 FEE: $240/$255 non-resident Participants will learn the basics of rigging, points of sail, sailing maneuvers, safety and capsize recovery in a safe and fun environment. CSC U.S. Sailing certified instructors lead a variety of land and water-based activities with the goal of comfort and independence in their boats. Classes will meet regardless of the weather, however we will not go in the water in excessive wind or under the threat of a thunderstorm. Requirements: ability to swim and tread water, closed toed shoes must be worn at all times. (CSC has water shoes available to borrow). CSC will provide life jackets that will be worn at all times on the water. Enrollment limited to 16 participants per session. You and your partner will be given $25 each with the challenge of spending as little as possible during the week . You will be given a list of things you need to accumulate and be able to “shop” for some of your items when you win daily challenges. We will go on adventures every afternoon to look for other items you need. We will also swim at various locations daily. The best savers will get gift certificates and decide which children’s charity they will donate all of their saved money to. A list of rules will be sent to you prior to camp. Be prepared to work as a team member, save and have lots of fun! In partnership with TD Banknorth. 12 girls per session. Session 1: July 7-July 11 Session 2: July 14 –18 LOCATION: Schmanska Park Barn AGES: Girls 9-11 years old TIME: 9:00AM-5:15PM FEE: $150 resident / $165 non-resident MOLLY’S GIRLS (41687) In 2001 we started our new “little girls” camp and it was so popular that we have to keep bringing it back! Join other girls your age as we hike, tour, swim, dress up, do arts and crafts, have a tea party and end the week with an afternoon “movie at the barn.” Enrollment limited to 12 girls per session. Molly was 7 years old when she asked for a “little girls camp”. We have named this camp after her because it was her very own idea. DATES: Session I: June 23 –27 Session II: June 30– July 3 (no camp 7/4) Session III: July 28 –August 1 AGES: 6-8 year olds LOCATION: Schmanska Park Barn TIMES: Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:15PM FEES: $150 per session-resident/ $165 non-resident *reduced rate of $125/$140 for Session 2 KAPER KAMP (41560) Looking for something to do at the end of the summer? The, Kaper Kamp is for you. This popular camp will offer arts & crafts projects, group games, swimming, field trips and so much more. Our experienced staff will provide excellent recreational opportunities for your child. DATE: Session I August 4 - 8 Session II August 11 - 15 TIME: 9:00AM - 5:15PM LOCATION: Edmunds Elementary AGES: Grades 1 - 5 (entering in the Fall 2008) FEES: residents $120 / $135 non-residents (early care: add $30) (Early care 7:45AM-9:00AM) Add $30 VOCAL VACATION CAMP (41680) Vocal Vacation is a choir camp where children gather for friendship and singing fun. Young, spirited singers who are entering grades 3 - 6 will sing their hearts out, performing songs from musical theatre to Mozart, jazz to folk, all while broadening their musical skills for the choir experience. A concert for family and friends will be held at the end of the camp. Come join us for a week of games, movement, rhythm activities and creative fun! DATES: TIME: LOCATION: AGES: FEE: July 14-July 18 Monday-Friday 9:00AM-3:00PM Champlain Elementary School Youth entering grades 4– 6 $150 resident/$165 non-resident ROCK MUSIC CAMP at 242 MAIN (42301) This camp will place students in groups based on level and personal preference. The following bands could be possible: Classic Rock, Hardcore/Punk, Blues, Heavy Metal, Rap, Reggae and Jam Band. Students need to bring a lunch and their own equipment, unless otherwise arranged with 242. PA systems will be provided. There are music theory classes and daily workshops facilitated by local and regional professional musicians. We will cover production, song writing instrumentation and lots more. Each group gets to record an original tune and the week culminates with a concert at 242 Main., put on for friends and family to showcase the campers’ hard work.
