TXTS & Emails 4 U are alert services for young people aged between 11 and 19 years.
The services keep young people updated on local events in Epsom & Ewell that they
might find interesting, including information on sports, music and the arts. Both
services are free and once registered young people will receive regular texts or
emails about local leisure events and initiatives.

Bring the family, come with friends or just bring yourself and join one of our health
walks, in some of the beautiful open spaces in the Borough. Walking is the perfect
activity to improve your fitness whilst enjoying the outdoors and meeting people. It
is free, doesn’t require specialist training or equipment and is safe and effective.

Bald Statements Exhibition

Epsom-based mental health charity, Love Me Love My Mind, is holding a striking and
powerful exhibition called Bald Statements in July. The exhibition, by sculptor Jean
Parker, features eight alabaster sculptures illustrating feelings of grief and loss. It
will take place in the peaceful and reflective atmosphere of St Barnabas Church,
Temple Road, Epsom, from Saturday 3 - Thursday 29 July.
Bald Statements was born as a reflection of Jean Parker’s own experience of cancer,
and presents a powerful and unique visual exploration of the grief process.

Tang Sou Dao is a traditional Chinese martial art which has been taught in the UK
since 1973, an excellent self defence system which gets you fit and flexible. First
lesson is free, just turn up in loose fitting clothing.

Bushido Warriors Summer Camp

A summer camp open to all children aged eight and above.
A weekend residential experience, including activities such
as climbing, rifle shooting, go karting, archery, martial arts,

Disability Challengers play and youth schemes are places for disabled children and
young people to play, make friends and have fun. At all Challenger play and youth
schemes there are lots of enthusiastic staff so that you can leave your child with
them and there will always be someone for them to play and be with. The wide
range of activities that are provided means that they can offer disabled young
people something to do and somewhere to go from the age of four to 25.

Ebbisham Sports Club - Grassroots Badminton Summer Camps

                        Enjoy your summer holidays by having fun playing
                        badminton. The camps are three hour sessions in the morning
                        or afternoon over five days. We will have a former England
                        International guest coach for one session at each Beginner’s
                        Camp. The last session in each Beginner’s Camp is a
                        badminton tournament. If there is sufficient demand we will
                        run a third Beginner’s Camp Monday 9 August to Friday 13
                        August in the afternoon.
Hayley Connor, former England International, will be the Head Coach for the
Intermediate Camp and we hope to get an additional former England International
guest coach for one session. The last session in the Intermediate Camp is also a
badminton tournament. The Intermediate Camp is intended for players who have
competed in either the Surrey Youth Games or Surrey County B tournaments.
Experienced and qualified Badminton England coaches will run the sessions. Sessions
will be run at either Ebbisham Sports Club or Epsom and Ewell High School.

Mini squash, squash and racketball sessions for boys and girls aged 7 to11 years,
11-15 years and 15 - 18years. All abilities - beginners, improvers and advanced.
‘Short’ (45 minutes) or ‘Long’ (four hour) sessions covering basic strokes, movement,
tactics, fun activities, mini-tournament games and prizes. Learn a new sport –
racketball (similar to squash – easy to learn, fun to play). Also, for advanced players,
individual or group pressure drills and challenging match play with a professional
squash player and world champion.

As part of the Open Weekend, Discovering Places will offer residents and visitors the
opportunity to explore hidden jems within the Borough. A number of health walks
and cycle trails are scheduled to take place over the weekend providing an
alternative activity for the family or individuals looking for something different.

Epsom Contemporary Artist’s Network (ECAN)

ECAN have brought together exciting and innovative work from contemporary
artists in and around Epsom & Ewell, and the rest of Surrey for their second Arts
Festival, in partnership with Bourne Hall. In addition to the exhibition, there will be
a programme of creative workshops for all ages throughout the two day festival.
These include felt making, jewelry making, plastic bonding and straw flower making.
There will also be a series of short artist talks and something for anyone who
loves art.

people aged 18-30, offering a wide range of activities that will enable you

We have a varied range of summer activities each year. This can include short
holiday breaks, sports, trips to London, barbecues and other social activities. In the
past we have also organised fundraisers in the summer such as a stall at Ashtead
Village Day or a car wash. Epsom Rotaract’s calendar is organised by club members

Fuelled by the huge wave of interest in the 40th
anniversary lunar landing in 2009, Space Hop will
highlight books and reading via cosmic travel. As young
readers discover the joy of reading books in a fun,
achievable challenge, they will also be invited to develop
a keen interest in the science of space travel. The 2010
Summer Reading Challenge will be the 12th annual
challenge. We are inviting children all over the UK to
help the young crew of Ex Libris to set up the first library
on the Moon.
In 2009 over 12,000 children in Surrey took part in the
Summer Reading Challenge – be one of them this year.
