MEMORANDUM – HERITAGE SECURITY DRUG POLICY & SCREENING
TO:               All Heritage Security Applicants

SUBJECT:          Heritage Security Drug Policy and Screening


To ensure a safe workplace, Heritage Security Management requires drug and alcohol screening
in certain situations.

Employees injured on-the-job will be required to take a drug and alcohol test. This will apply if
the on-the-job accident results in injury requiring medical attention or property damage and
where the employee cannot be completely discounted as a contributing factor.

Employees are required to complete an Alcohol and Drug Screening Consent form on the spot of
the accident. Results of the screening will be treated as strictly confidential. Within 48 hours of
completion of the screening, the Company’s designated medical clinic will indicate either a
“pass” or “fail” to Human Resources. Employees who refuse or fail the screening will be
terminated.

The following rules and standards of conduct apply to all employees.

          Heritage strictly prohibits the following:
      •   Use of alcohol, controlled substances or mind-altering prescription drugs is prohibited.
      •   Reporting for duty with the odor of alcohol on breath or person is prohibited.
      •   Driving a Company or client vehicle while under the influence or alcohol or any drug is
          prohibited.
      •   Distribution, sale or purchase of an illegal or controlled substance is prohibited.
      •   Possession or use of an illegal or controlled substance, or being under the influence of an
          illegal or controlled substance is prohibited.

Violation of the above rules and standards of conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for
termination. The matter may also be brought to the attention of the appropriate law enforcement
authorities.

In order to enforce this policy, Heritage reserves the right to conduct searches of Company and
client property or employees and/or their personal property, and to implement other measures
necessary to deter and detect abuse of this policy including an alcohol/drug test, upon demand,
and at any time, per their supervisor.

An employee’s conviction on a charge of illegal sale, possession or use of any controlled
substance while off duty will not be tolerated because such conduct, even though off duty,
reflects adversely on the Company. In addition, the Company must keep people who see or
possess controlled substances off Company or client premises in order to keep the controlled
substances themselves off the premises.

Any employee who is using prescription or over-the-counter drugs that may impair his/her ability
to safely perform the job, or affect the safety or well bring of others, must notify a supervisor of
such use immediately before starting or resuming work.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT
   • You must: be at least 18 years of age, U.S. citizen or legal resident, and able to provide proof of
       employment eligibility. For example: an original Social Security card, birth certificate, valid driver’s
       license or a valid state issued identification card.
   • Be able to have and maintain a valid California Guard card.
   • Be able to pass a civil, criminal and employment background check.
   • Have reliable transportation and a personal telephone/contact number.
   • Be physically able to carry out all assigned security duties, which include, but are not limited to,
       extended periods of standing and walking.
   • Be well groomed – Goatees and beards are not allowed. Only small, neat mustaches that do not
       extend past the lips are acceptable.
   • Provide employment history/references upon request.
   • Be flexible regarding hours and days available.
   • MUST be willing to work anywhere within San Diego county.
   • An equipment deposit is required. It is deducted in increments and is refundable pending return of
       items when leaving company. Other fees may also be required. Please ask if you have any questions
       prior to being offered employment.

                         Personal Standards

Heritage Security strives to maintain high standards for our employees and business.
Applicants, who are in training, are required to dress appropriately and maintain a neat and
professional appearance at all times.

Applicants are required to be well groomed and are expected to dress neatly. When you are
in the corporate office and/or at your assigned workstation, the following attire is
unacceptable.

       Ball caps, beanies, du-rags, and bandanas
       Excessive jewelry, including more than one ear piercing
       Facial piercing
       Revealing or sexually suggestive clothing
       Beach attire; shorts and flip flops
       Hair and make-up to an excess
       Clothing with a poor or baggy fit and/or holes, rips or tears

Applicants are required to be well groomed and are expected to dress neatly and well
pressed.

Heritage applicants in training that fall asleep, have your legs lifted on another chair, food or
beverages, talking with other applicants or use a cellular phone in the training room will be
asked to leave for the day and return on another day. This will be considered a warning.
Please note that you are still in the application process. Failure to comply with any of
Heritage’s Personal Standards will be basis for retracting an employment offer with the
Company.

Required BSIS training must be completed in a Heritage office. Completion Certificates of
Training will be accepted from accredited establishments. Any “Home Do-It-Yourself
training will not be accepted, by us or the BSIS. All applicants are required to complete
the training within (2) two weeks from the time evaluations/ interviews are complete. If
you do not comply within the two week training period; Heritage reserves the right to
