OLD DOMINION HORSE SHOW
WELCOME
VOTED #1 SHOW FOR ZONE 3 BY USHJA
MEMBERS FOR 2009!!!!
We are truly grateful to all the USHJA members for showing us that we are providing
the kind of horse showing experience that you are looking for. And we assure you that
our 2010 sophomore effort will be even better!
We are again lucky enough to have the picturesque Deep Run Hunt Club as our venue
and thank all the folks of the Deep Run Horse Show Committee for all your support.
Many of our special features from last year will be reprised as well as a few new surprises.
New for 2010 will be the Verizon Wireless Electronic scoreboard for the “Verizon
Arena”. We are excited to provide this state of the art feature along with all the old time
traditions of hospitality and horsemanship of our show. Repeating this year will be the
College Night Recruiting Dinner at the club that proved so popular in 2009. We will
have many new schools this summer. The following morning will be the 1st Annual
Old Dominion Collegiate Medal for anyone who has ever ridden on a riding team, Jr.
high, high school, or college. And of course we will have the Costume Hunt Teams and
the hilarious “Ride a Buck for the Pups” classes.
More galloping courses will be available for the Children’s/Adult Hunter Derby
and the North American Pony Derby Championship classes. New for this year are
Opportunity classes and more classes for young horses and riders. We are hosting the
North American Pony Futurity on Sunday with some of the loveliest young ponies in
the country.
Many have inquired if we are having a special rate at our host hotel, Hotel Sierra again.
The answer is yes! We also have a great rate for you at the Homewood Suites for those
with pets. And we know how much you all loved the shopping at Short Pump Center
and our Magnolia Spa specials. And we know that it is July- so the Hunt Club pool will
be available for exhibitors every day.
Our beneficiary is again our friends at Danny and Ron’s Rescue Dogs. I know that most
of you are very familiar with the great work that these fellows do, having placed over
2000 dogs in loving homes since Hurricane Katrina. Saturday and Sunday will be “Dog
Days at Old Dominion” with demos of agility, adoptathon, and a silly pet dog show. Do
you have the fastest tail wagger, or the best kisser?? Bring ‘em on!
We plan to steadfastly maintain the quality of our show and remain an “AA” rated event,
yet still hold to only two rings. Your voting has shown us that this is what the exhibitors 1
want. In order for us to give you a great product and help our canine friends at the
same time, we rely on sponsorship. Our new website at www.olddominionhorseshow.
com can provide you with sponsorship ideas, details, the prize list and much more.
Please contact us for corporate partnerships or with any other questions at theodhs@
gmail.com.
We wish you all the best of luck at the show and want you to enjoy all we have to offer
for your enjoyment and entertainment. Thanks so much for your participation.
