Information Portal Project Update

2. The following progress had been made since the last meeting of the Project Board:

 Resources for the next year have been made available thus enabling a
              commitment to deliver the project
 A Business Analyst had been assigned to investigate the potential of a
Tourism element to the information portal.
 Internal resources had been committed for the environmental information
              portal.
 Working with University of Edinburgh on creating a cultural module.
 Statistics module should be available later in the year.

OneScotland Portal Project Update

3. The following progress has been made since the last meeting of the Project Board:

 The portal content was almost complete
 A Gaelic section has been created, but it was noted that a full translation of the
content into Gaelic would require a development of a separate portal
 Successful completion of eGIF Compliance assessment
 Functional specification has been signed off
           Taxonomy has been refined

4. The focus over the next month would be to:

 Initiate and complete User Acceptance Testing
 Receive a revised Project Plan from Sopra for live implementation

5. The Project Board’s attention was drawn to the following issues/risks:

 User Acceptance Testing environment is still in the process of being created.
The delay in development has been caused by ongoing technical issues.
 The risk is that the Portal may be launched on an unsupported National
Infrastructure which is scheduled to go live after the launch of the Portal. The
Project Team will work with the Improvement Service to mitigate any
              potential impact.

Demonstration of OneScotland Portal

                                              2
6. The Project Board was given a demonstration of the Portal in its development form. It
was suggested that the ‘Contact Us’ page should be given more prominence. Jennifer
Wallace volunteered to review the content pages and offered sources of advice via the
Scottish Consumer Council’s Consumer Network and Accessible Information Forum.

Action Point: Lois to ask UserVision to consider placement of ‘Contact Us’ page when
they are carrying out usability testing.

Action Point: Lois to provide Jennifer with Portal content for comments.

Marketing

7. The Board discussed the refined proposals for online marketing and was in support for
encouraging partner organisations to link to the Portal and creating a short factual
      article for Wikipedia.

8. The Board requested a more detailed proposal for the use of Google maps as a
marketing tool. It was generally agreed that this could work well for physical entities
but further investigation would be required to understand how it could be used to
      promote services.

Action: Project Team to develop detailed proposal for Google Map marketing.

9. The Board discussed the use of blogs to promote the Portal but considered on balance
not to proceed with this option at the moment.

Success Measure Indicators

10. The Board considered the revised indicators for measuring the success of the Portal and
were happy with the progress and direction of the work. The Board was advised that
the work is still under development and that any comments and suggestions at this stage
      are welcomed.

Action: Project Board to provide the Project Team with suggestions / comments on the
Success Measures Indicators by 12 May.

Action: Willie to provide Lois with statistical visitor data on Vote Scotland and Clearing
the Air websites.
