Quinta da Muradella 2006 Bastardo ORIGIN TASTING NOTES: Spain The 2006 Bastardo spent 14 months in VARIETAL Bastardo French oak. It is medium ruby-colored with kinky aromas of underbrush, mineral, wild ALCOHOL cherry and black raspberry. Elegant, velvety 14.5% textured, and complex on the palate, this impeccably balanced wine will drink well for 6-8 years. Unfortunately, there is not much of this singular wine to go around. Quinta da Muradella is where star vigneron Raul Perez makes his A Trabe wines. Grapes from this vineyard were once used to make Grappa but now serve a more noble purpose. A mere 1.2 hectares in size, the vineyard is now biodynamically farmed. Hourglass 2007 Cabernet Franc Blueline ORIGIN TASTING NOTES: California Intoxicating high tone aromatics of crushed VARIETAL Cabernet Franc rose petals and candied violets mixed with toasty vanilla. The 2007 Cab Franc is deep in ALCOHOL ripe dark fruit character with a striking 15.8% richness. Good acidity highlights a brightness indicative of Cab Franc at it best. The floral characters carry through on the palette adding complexity to the dark fruit which lingers through an extended finish. Tannins are polished with supple texture.
