North Shore Multicultural Society Job Posting Youth Settlement Worker/Facilitator Details: This position involves two programs, under the direction of the Youth Programs Manager; the Youth Settlement Worker/Facilitator (35hrs/week) will be responsible for: • The day to day delivery, client management, and facilitation of the content of the Get Connected Program, which is a pre-employment program providing at-risk immigrant youth with settlement education workshops and one-to-one client support. • Facilitation of workshops for the Neonology program, which is a program providing experiential workshops for high school students, teachers and parents to help raise awareness of diversity issues and what can be done to address these issues Duties: 1. Assists with client intake and recruitment and Monitors the progress and activities of program participants on a regular basis and provides coaching/feedback within the classroom or in a one-on-one case-management sessions 2. Develops effective and professional networks with team members, inter-agency staff, community partners, and other frontline workers in the community 3. In collaboration with other program staff develops curriculum and instructs delegated project elements by utilizing teaching methods and materials appropriate to the target population 4. Implements youth engagement in youth project activities 5. Works with Youth Team to ensure appropriate planning, delivery and evaluation of youth project activities 6. Participates in the development of diversity and inclusion workshops. Co-facilitates diversity and inclusion workshops to Grade 10 Planning students, teachers and school administrators, parents and youth workers. 7. Works with Youth Team to support youth participating in school-based diversity projects. 8. Participates in the development of 8 day Youth Leadership Training Skills and Experience: 1. Demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders-supervisors, colleagues, program participant, program partners and is committed to developing and maintaining a flexible working style and attitude 2. Experience and/or training in facilitation of youth groups, including youth employment and youth re-employment programs. 3. Excellent conflict resolution, problem solving, critical thinking, organizational, and initiative taking abilities 4. Knowledge of barriers for immigrant youth and youth engagement strategy 5. Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills 6. effective organizational/classroom management abilities • Second language (Farsi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean) a strong asset. Education: Working towards a degree, diploma in Social Sciences or Child and Youth Care and/or an appropriate combination of experience and training in youth leadership and community development.
