COLD WATER CREEK FARMS 2011 CSA INFO
Cold Water Creek Farms will be offering two 15‐week CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)
programs for the 2011 growing season. The first (spring / summer) will start in mid‐late April and run
through the end of July. The summer/ fall CSA will begin in August and run through November. Due to
uncertainty in weather and other factors beyond our control, we tentatively expect to start the spring/
summer CSA on April 19th. Community Supported Agriculture is the most direct way to connect the
farmers who grow the food with the consumers who eat the food. A full share will be enough food for
a family of four, and a half will feed a family of two.
Pick up locations will be on Tuesdays near downtown Concord (location TBA) from 4:30 to 6:30 pm,
Tuesdays in Charlotte at the Atherton Mills Market from 3:00 – 7:00 pm, and Saturdays at the Davidson
Farmers Market from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Shareholders should contact us via e‐mail or phone if they will not be picking up their share. All shares
not picked up will be donated to the Harriet B. Stafford Bread Basket, a local organization providing
food and resources to those in need. Shareholders will receive their vegetables within 24 hours of
harvest. A fresher product provides more nutrition
Demand for our organically grown produce is high; therefore CWCF recommends that you secure your
share as soon as possible. CWCF will begin accepting contracts on February 26, 2011, and remain open
until all shares are full.

of the CSA. Another option is to receive a Cackleberry Farms variety pack which includes Feta cheese,
Yogurt cheese, and Butter. With this option, you would receive each of these items five times
throughout the 15 week CSA, receiving a different product each week. Full payment is required in
advance for any add on share.
CWCF will offer members an optional work share. The work share provides the members an
opportunity to experience how their food is grown, harvested, and cared for. Members will sign up
for work share on the first pick up day. There will be a calendar available to all members in order to
sign up on a first‐come first‐serve basis. Each workday will be limited to five members per day. Work
days are Monday and Friday.
As a shareholder of CWCF CSA you are sharing in the risk of farming. The inherent risks include, but are
not limited to: environmental conditions such as weather, crop failure, pest (deer, insects, etc.) Also
shareholders may benefit from bumper crops. For example, in last year’s CSA program, there was an
abundance of peppers and apples, and shareholders received more than usual. On the other side,
we planted 250 eggplants that were unfortunately destroyed by flea beetles.
