Deadlines:
If applying through the University of Regina, the deadline by which students must submit their application online is
January 3, 2011. After that date students will not be able to access the online application form. (Check with the
academic unit/department to see if they have an earlier deadline – some are as early as December 14th)

Results:
   • Internal (U of R) competition results – you will be notified by letter in late February or early March, as to
        whether or not your application will be sent to CIHR
   • Final competition results from CIHR will not be known until mid-July

    • Students apply through ResearchNet. The applications will be accessible online by the Manager of Graduate
        Scholarships and Awards who will send an electronic copy to the Academic Unit for Review.
    • Students should not need to print a copy of their application for their Academic Unit.

Transcripts – New Procedure for CIHR only
   • Students must order their transcripts right away from every university that attended, including the University
       of Regina (even if this is first semester).
   • New - CIHR considers transcripts issued by the Registrar’s Office to the student to be official transcripts.
       Opening the envelope to scan the transcript will not render it unofficial for CIHR’s purposes.
   • Students will be required to scan and upload transcripts and/or information to their application (details can be
       found in the first link above).

Signature Pages
    • Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slip in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task
       in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application.
    • Once all other signatures (signature, supervisor, department) have been obtained, bring all signature pages to
       the FGSR for the Institution Signature.

Departmental Reviews:
   • Once the department/academic unit deadline has passed, the academic unit should send a request to
       wendy.machmer@uregina.ca to request a pdf of the student applications.
   • This pdf will include all documentation for the application, including letters of support and transcripts.
   • Departments to submit their rankings to the FGSR no later than January 10, 2011.
