Summer proves golden for DGJG’s raffle draw winners Dubai, July 8, 2008: Over two weeks since the start of DSS, shoppers are finding jewellery shopping an exciting and rewarding experience with many eagerly participating in Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group‟s raffle draws that could see them win over AED 1 million in gold and jewellery vouchers. Over 300 jewellery outlets across Dubai are taking part in the promotions that offer all customers purchasing AED 300 worth of gold or jewellery during DSS, the chance to win daily AED 10,000 and weekly AED 50,000 worth of jewellery vouchers. One of the recent winners, Mrs. Nisha Venu commented, “I got the most surprising call from DGJG while I was leaving for my holiday, telling me I had won AED 10,000 worth of gift vouchers. I was so surprised; it is my best summer ever!” Another surprised winner is Mrs. Madhu Ramesh who just moved to Dubai from Muscat. “My new home has proven lucky for me. I have always heard of people winning fabulous prizes in Dubai, now I am one of those lucky ones. When I filled in the raffle coupon, I did not think I would win anything. This is my first win in Dubai and I will always cherish this, “Ramesh added. The holiday season is prompting many to spend their money on jewellery as gifts to take home for loved ones. “Many of Dubai‟s expatriates spend most of their summer holidays abroad and DSS with its best bargains is one of the best times to buy jewellery, “said Swapna Nair, General Manager, DGJG. Since the gold prices have remained around US$ 900-950 level, retailers have not seen steep drop in sales since May this year. Dubai‟s jewellery trade, which is mostly fuelled by demand from the Arab world and India, is experiencing brisk sales since the beginning of DSS. --Ends— About Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) Formed with the support of the Dubai Department of Economic Development in 1996, the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) is a trade association with over 700 members representing all sectors of the trade, including bullion trade, manufacturing, wholesale and retail.
