                         STUDENT APPLICATIONS

        •   Under Site Tools select Login
        •   Select On-Line System Login

Enter login credentials.

The main eConsole page will appear.

Under Forms Management, select Forms – Student

“My Portfolio” opens.
This is were the Application Form (Form 201) will be created.




The student can logout of the application at any time.

Remember to save each screen.

Still in “My Portfolio”....... Select the form to be created.

Choose:
Form 201 – Scholarships (PGS M, PGS D & PDF) for all applications from the
drop-down menu.




Click Create

Choose the type of Application (PDF, PGS M, PGS D)

Enter the Title of your Proposal (note character limit).




Click Create.

Complete the Application Profile.




Depending on how the “current status” of university registration is answered “A, B, C or D”,
your application will either be submitted to McMaster for an internal selection process and
forwarded to NSERC (if recommended) or submitted directly to NSERC.

A or B – You will attach your transcript (Transcripts – Direct) and forward the application
directly to NSERC.

C or D – You will invite a “University Designate” (Transcripts – University) to scan ALL up-to-
date transcripts and attach them to the application – please ensure that you communicate
with the designate to ensure they have all transcripts required. You must also ensure that the
University Designate receives a hard copy of your COMPLETE application before the
transcripts are attached.

Complete the Person Profile.




You will receive a PIN number on your application if you have never had contact with NSERC.

If you have applied to NSERC before this will be the same PIN number you entered when you
registered for eServices.

Complete the Addresses section.




Enter current mailing address & permanent address (if different from mailing address).

Complete the Academic Background.




Use the List... button to search for the Institution and Department.

Include only current & past degree programs.

Enter Work Experience.




Begin with most recent academic, research & other relevant work experience.

List Awards (up to 10).




List only competitive awards based on academic, or research excellence and/or leadership or
communication abilities.

Include NSERC awards & any declined awards.

Enter Location of Tenure.




Indicate location of tenure (in order of preference).

Use the List... button to select the Institution.

Enter Scholarship/Fellowship Information.

Enter Research Subject Code(s) & List Key Words.

Use the List... button to choose the correct code.




List up to 10 key words that describe proposed research.

Transcripts – Direct

Attaching transcripts to the application is not available based on registration status in
Application Profile.




This is only available to:

PGS applicants applying directly to NSERC.
PDF applicants.

Transcripts – University

Must enter the name & email address of the university representative designated to scan &
upload transcripts. After the data is saved, the system will automatically generate an E-mail
inviting the designate to attach the transcript.




The status of this request can be verified on this page.
E-mail Sent – an message sent from your email address to the designate with a link to
                    upload the transcript.
Form Created – the individual has received the link and completed their on-line profile.
Form Completed – the transcript has been attached.

It is your responsibility to ensure that this individual has an Official & Up-to-date
transcript for all the degree programs listed under Academic Background.

Reports on the Applicant
(2 original reviews are required)

Must enter the name & email address of 2 individuals who will complete the reports. After the
data is saved, the system will automatically generate an E-mail to each referee inviting them
to complete the report.




The status of this request can be verified on this page.
E-mail Sent – an message sent from your email address to the referee with a link to
                    complete the report.
Form Created – the individual has received the link and completed their on-line profile.
Form Completed – the report has been completed & submitted.

You will not be able to see the referee reports or your transcripts.

After the application is created and you are logging in again.......

Once the application/form has been created, this screen also shows the progress of the
application.

To continue with the application, click Edit.




To verify the completeness of the application, click Verify.

To view/print the application, click Preview.

The Verification Report shows what information is missing or needs corrections.




Click Edit Form, to continue completing the application.

Click to preview the application in PDF format.

It can be printed from the PDF.

Sample Application PGS M – 6 Pages




When you close the PDF, and click to close the application, Explorer will ask if you want to
close the window.




Click “Yes” to close the screen.

Login & create the application the same way as the PGS M instructions.

of proposal.
