                                     Day One – Sat 29 August – Arrive Paris
                                     Guests arriving in Paris on our J&H Tours escorted Emirates flight are transferred
                                     to the charming Hotel Roblin for an afternoon at leisure prior to dining Parisian
                                     style at the famous Fauchon Restaurant.

                                     Day Two – Sun 30 August – Paris to Tain l’Hermitage
                                     We depart with a morning transfer to Paris’ Gare de Lyon for our first class
                                     TGV train to Valence and transfer to Tain l’Hermitage to join our luxury Orient-
                                     Express barge, Napoléon. Enjoy an onboard Champagne reception followed
                                     by a wine tasting at Mr Ferraton’s winery.

                                     Day Three – Mon 31 August - Viviers
                                     Relax on the top deck and watch the beautiful French countryside as you enjoy
                                     the scenic cruise to Viviers. We take a guided walking tour of this charming
                                     medieval town before returning to the boat to play the traditional Provençal
                                     game of Pentanque.

                                     Day Four – Tues 1 September - St Etienne des Sorts
                                     Cruise to St Etienne des Sorts with visits to a working lavender distillery and
                                     18th century olive mill in Nyons. We enjoy lunch in the scenic village of Grignam
                                     before a visit to a truffle farm to learn all about the ‘black diamond’.

                                     Day Five – Wed 2 September - Avignon
                                     This morning’s excursion is to Châteauneuf du Pape for a wine tasting before
                                     returning to our barge for lunch. We cruise to Avignon, past Le Pont St Bénézet
                                     (the famous Pont d’Avignon) before mooring opposite the gate to the walled
                                     city. This afternoon take an excursion to the Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct, a
                                     Unesco World Heritage site.

                                     Day Six – Thurs 3 September - Avignon
                                     Today we enjoy a guided walking tour of Avignon’s walled city including the
                                     Palace of the Popes. We return to our barge for lunch before our guide takes
                                     you to the village of Les Baux where you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon at your
                                     own pace.

                                     Day Seven – Fri 4 September - Arles
                                     Following breakfast we take a guided walking tour of Arles, best known
                                     because Van Gogh painted here between 1888 and 1890. Enjoy a lunch cruise
                                     to Vallabrèuges and afternoon visit to St Rémy, birthplace of Nostradamus.
                                     Enroute back to our boat enjoy an olive oil tasting at a traditional 18th century
                                     Provençal Bastide. This evening features a special onboard gala dinner as we
                                     farewell ‘Napoleon’.

                                     Day Eight – Sat 5 September – Vallabrèuges to Toulouse
                                     We disembark Napoléon this morning and transfer by private air-conditioned
                                     coach to Toulouse, with a stop en route for lunch at the fortified medieval city
                                     of Carcassonne before our afternoon arrival in Toulouse. Enjoy an afternoon at
                                     leisure at the elegant 17th century Hôtel de l’Opéra before dining tonight in
                                     the Hotel’s restaurant.

                                     Day Nine – Sun 6 September – Toulouse & Albi
                                     This morning we enjoy a guided tour of Toulouse to visit some of the major
                                     landmarks and monuments. Following lunch we leave for an afternoon
                                     excursion to the medieval town of Albi to visit the stunning Sainte-Cécile
                                     Cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec Museum.

                                     Day Ten – Mon 7 September – Toulouse
                                     This morning we take an excursion to view the world’s largest passenger
                                     aircraft at the Airbus A380 Assembly factory. After lunch in the city you are free
                                     to enjoy an afternoon at leisure exploring Toulouse or just relaxing.

                                     Day Eleven – Tues 8 September – Toulouse to Aïnhoa
                                     We depart Toulouse, stopping to visit the imposing castle in Pau where Henry
                                     IV was born. We enjoy lunch in Pau before an afternoon arrival in the quaint
                                     little Basque town of Aïnhoa for our seven night stay in the beautiful Hotel
                                     Argi Eder.

                                     Day Twelve – Wed 9 September – Aïnhoa
                                     Today we take a walking and orientation walking tour of Aïnhoa, returning to
                                     our hotel for lunch. This afternoon learn more about the land and its people

itinerary
with a lecture and presentation of the Basque Country presented by our local
guide. This evening enjoy a traditional gastronomic dinner in the village.

Day Thirteen – Thurs 10 September – Bayonne
This morning’s excursion takes us to the beautiful town of Bayonne for a
walking tour along the narrow streets of the old centre and a visit to the Basque
Museum to admire its wonderful folk art collection. Enjoy lunch in Bayonne
and some free time to explore at your leisure before returning to our Hotel.

Day Fourteen – Frid 11 September - Biarritz
We further explore the Basque region with excursions to Saint-Jean-de-Luz,
where King Louis XIV married Marie-Thérése of Spain, and to Biarritz, one of
Empress Eugenie’s favourite spots on the Bay of Biscay. We enjoy an afternoon
walking tour through this world famous seaside resort.

Day Fifteen – Sat 12 September - Saint-Jean-Pied-de Port
Today we visit the walled Pyrenean town of Saint-Jean-Pied-de Port, for
centuries a major pilgrimage stop on the route to Santiago de Compostela
in western Spain. We visit a winery and dairy farm to taste local culinary
specialities. In St Etienne-de-Baïgorry we enjoy the culinary specialties of Chef
Pascal Arce in his restaurant overlooking the river.

Day Sixteen – Sun 13 September – Bilbao
We cross the border to Spanish Basque country for an excursion to Bilbao and
the famous Guggenheim Museum, designed by the great architect, Frank
Gehry. We take time to view the famous museum’s exhibitions and taste the
culinary art in its excellent restaurant. We return to our chalet via a scenic drive
through Spanish Basque Country before dining tonight in our Hotel.

Day Seventeen – Mon 14 September – Cambo-les-Bains
After breakfast we visit Villa Arnaga, a typical Basque house that was built for
Edmon Rostand, author of Cyrano de Bergerac. We travel the short distance to
Cambo-les-Bains (Cambo Baths), the renowned old spa town. We visit both the
new town and old quarter before enjoying the traditional, inventive cuisine at
Le Chene in Itxassou. We return to Ainhoa for a leisurely afternoon and our
final evening meal at the Hotel Argi Eder.

Day Eighteen – Tues 15 September – Pau
This morning we farewell our Basque friends as we enjoy a relaxed departure
from Aïnhoa and Hotel Argi Eder. We visit the beautiful village of Sare for lunch
prior to our transfer to Pau International Airport where our tour ends.
