					                              North Hatley Elementary School's Mission is to instil a desire for
                              lifelong learning that will enable students to discover their abilities
                              and potential by providing a safe, creative, and challenging
                              environment where respect for the individual is uncompromised
                              and teaching and evaluation reflects individual difference.

                                                                 About our School


                                                     At the top of a hill in North Hatley,
                                                     overlooking Lake Massawippi stands the
                                                     small, majestic North Hatley Elementary
                                                     School.   Within these walls, large sunny
                                                     classrooms, small class sizes, and caring,
                                                     dedicated staff make it conducive for active
                                                     student learning.

                                                     Because North Hatley Elementary is such a
                                                     small school, consisting of just over
                                                     sixty students, seven teachers, one special
                                                     education technician, and four support staff,
                                                     the often-heard phrase “It takes a village to

                                                     case. Every adult in the building shapes
                                                     each child’s education, with the joint

                                     PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

 North Hatley Elementary School's plans for the future are guided by our mission statement,
 educational project's priorities, and School Success Plan.

 During the 2008-2009 school year, we focused on four of our educational project’s priorities through the
 Second Step/Steps to Respect assemblies, where students are provided with the opportunity to practice
 these programs’ messages and to promote consistent positive behaviours.

 The success plan will continue to prioritize improving student literacy skills, increasing student problem-
 solving skills and promoting respect for all.




                                    COMMUNITY RELATIONS

 One of North Hatley Elementary School's treasures is the amazing community involvement. Both parents
 and community members have devoted time and energy to enrich our students' lives by:

         •   Facilitating community involvement
         •   Tutoring our students
         •   Organizing fundraisers
         •   Allowing us to use the municipal library on a weekly basis, and providing a location for our
             students to exhibit their talents
         •   The association ‘Meals on Wheels’ provides hot soup during the wintertime. The cost of the
             ingredients is taken care by the Women’s Institute and NHHAS.
 These are only a few means through which our community supports our school, and we appreciate it!!! We
 are also aware of the positive impact we are having on community involvement when the majority of the
 invitees attend our end-of-year “Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon”.



       More About Our Student/School
               Achievement

During this school year, North Hatley Elementary
School's sports program and clubs continued to
blossom because of the enthusiastic willingness of
both staff and volunteers to          lead various
teams/activities. Assemblies are held to share our
successes:     academic,   athletic,   and    social.
Academically,    our  students    are   experiencing
successes on the end-of-cycle assessments.

We are so proud of our students’ progress and we
know they are well prepared for their secondary
studies. We hope they occasionally open their "Hard
Cover Books" to fondly remember their days at North
Hatley Elementary School, and they may even
consider returning for a visit!
