The
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             SoS announced that the Department would establish an independent commission to report on the first 3
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             years of operation of the policy. DfES is working with partner bodies, including HEFCE and the Office for

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              LSC has introduced a new quailty standard for vocational training providers - called 'New Standard'. The
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              standard measures providers responsiveness to employers needs', and their vocational expertise. The
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              new standard will be owned and administered by an independt organisation appointed by the LSC. The
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              TDA, as the sector body for the school workforce, has been asked to develop sector-specific guidance.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The New Standard is aimed primarily at FE Colleges and private organisations providing work related skills
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              training. These institutions make significant training provision for school support staff. As part of its work
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              to develop the guidance, the TDA will need to consider whether the scope should be broadened to
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              encourage 1) the participation of: local authorities and schools providing training for school support staff;
