EADS N.V. (EADS) is engaged in providing defense, aerospace, and related services. The company’s principal business
activities include the manufacture of commercial aircrafts, helicopters, space launch vehicles, missiles, satellites, and
other related systems. The company employs 120,000 people.
EADS operates its business through five reportable segments, namely, Airbus, Astrium, Eurocopter, Defence & Security
and Other businesses.
The company’s Airbus segment operates through Airbus Commercial and Airbus Military. Airbus Commercial is engaged
in developing, manufacturing, marketing, and selling commercial jet aircrafts of more than 100 seats. The products offered
by this segment include Airbus A320 family, Airbus A330/A340 family, Airbus A310/A300 family, Airbus A380 family,
Airbus A350 XWB family, Airbus corporate jetliner, A300-600ST Beluga, and Airbus Military aircraft. Airbus Military aircraft
comprises of A400M, C-212, CN-235, C-295, A310 MRTT, A330 MRTT, and Air Refuelling Boom System (ARBS). It is
engaged in the development, manufacture, and sale of military transport aircraft and special mission aircraft. During the
fiscal year 2009, the segment contributed 65.54% towards the total revenues of the company, generating EUR 28,067
million, an increase of -3.18% over the previous year.
EADS’ Astrium segment is engaged in the development, manufacture, and sale of satellites, orbital infrastructures, and
launchers. In addition, the segment also provides space services. Key offerings of this segment include Astrium Satellites
and Astrium Transportation solutions. The services provided by this segment include telecom services, secure satcom
systems, earth observation services, and navigation services. During the fiscal year 2009, the segment contributed
11.20% towards the total revenues of the company, generating EUR 4,799 million, an increase of 11.89% over the
previous year.
The company’s Eurocopter segment is engaged in the development, manufacture, and sale of civil and military
helicopters. In addition, it also offers maintenance services. Eurocopter’s civil range comprises EC 120 B, Ecureuil Family,
EC 135, EC 145, Dauphin Family, EC 175, and Super Puma Family while its military range includes EC 120 B, Fennec
Family, EC 635, EC 645, Panther Family, Cougar Family, NH-90, Tiger HAP/HCP, and Tiger UHT. In fiscal 2008,
Eurocopter segment generated EUR 4,199 million, an increase of 4.3% over 2007. During the fiscal year 2009, the
segment contributed 10.67% towards the total revenues of the company, generating EUR 4,570 million, an increase of
1.87% over the previous year.
The company’s Defense and Security systems division (DS) is engaged in the development, manufacture, and sale of
missiles systems, military combat aircraft, and training aircraft. It also provides defense electronics, defense-related
telecommunications solutions and logistics; and training, testing, engineering and other related services. During the fiscal
year 2009, the segment contributed 12.52% towards the total revenues of the company, generating EUR 5,363 million, an
increase of -5.38% over the previous year.
The company’s other businesses principally comprises of developing, manufacturing, marketing, and selling regional
turboprop aircraft, civil and military aircraft conversion and maintenance, light commercial aircraft and aircraft components
services. It offers ATR, EADS Sogerma, EADS EFW, and EADS Socata services. During the fiscal year 2009, the
segment contributed 2.55% towards the total revenues of the company, generating EUR 1,096 million, an increase of -

The company’s research and development (R&D) department is engaged in product development that includes core
