Identifying Your Basic Skills 1. In the Work section, choose the Basic Skills Survey. 2. Take your time. Starting at the top, check activities that you know you can do today. 3. Once you select at least two activities from the first level, the next level will be made available. 4. Once you've reached your highest level, click Continue to the Next Skill. 5. When you have completed all ten basic skills, Choices Planner will display a graph of your basic skills in order from highest to lowest. 6. At the top of the page click Print This to print your results. 7. Click Review Matching Careers to see careers matching your basic skills. Click on any of the career names to view a complete description of that career. 8. Your results are stored in Your Portfolio for you to review at any time. Identifying Your Workplace Skills 1. In the Work section, choose the Workplace Skills Checklist. 2. Click Start choosing your skills. 3. Take your time. Starting at the top, select the skills that you have now – or plan on developing in the future. Remember – you don't have to pick a skill if none apply to you! 4. Once you have finished selecting your skills (if any), click Continue. 5. Continue through all five of the Workplace Skills checklists, clicking Continue after each checklist even if you do not select any skills. 6. When you have completed all five workplace skill checklists, Choices Planner will display a list of your workplace skills and examples of careers that use those skills. 7. At the top of the page click Print This to print your results. 8. Click Review Careers Matching all Your Skills to see careers matching all of your workplace skills. 9. Click on the name of a career to read a complete description of the career. 10. Click on Compare your skills to see which of your skills match those required of people in this career. 11. Your results are stored in Your Portfolio for you to review at any time.
