               Microsoft Certified Professional
         Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP
The Microsoft Certified Professional credential is for individuals who have the
skills to successfully implement a Microsoft product or technology as part of a
business solution in an organisation. Hands-on experience with the product is
necessary to successfully achieve certification.
Only one exam is required for the Microsoft Certified Professional Certification.



    MCP                             MCSA                            MCSE
The MCP is the initial step to take when beginning a Microsoft certification
program. It will lead you on to other certifications in the engineering
stream (MCSA, MCSE).

You can also certify as a MCP in Microsoft’s development products, leading
to a certification ultimately as a MCSD – Microsoft Certified Solution
Developer.


What course should I take?

MCP on Windows 2000
Only one exam is required for the Microsoft Certified Professional Windows 2000
Certification. Dimension Data Learning Solutions and Microsoft recommend that
both courses 2151 and 2152 are attended and then either exam (70-215 or 70-
210) completed to achieve your MCP certification. The knowledge covered in
both courses is needed to pass either exam.



  Course 2151 MS Windows 2000 Network & Operating System Essentials – 3 days




  Exam: 70-215 Installing, Configuring & Administering MS Windows 2000 Server
  Course 2152 Implementing MS Windows 2000 Professional & Server – 5 days
  Pre-requisite Course 2151
  OR
  Exam: 70-210 Installing, Configuring & Administering MS Windows 2000 Professional
  Hint: do this exam after completing Courses 2151 & 2152

MCP on Windows XP
Dimension Data Learning Solutions recommend that both courses 2151 and 2272
are attended and then exam 70-270 completed to achieve your MCP certification.
The knowledge covered in both courses is needed to pass the exam.



  Course 2151 MS Windows 2000 Network & Operating System Essentials – 3 days

  Alternatively, students can choose the Comptia A+ or Network+ certification,
  (please refer to the Comptia certification flowcharts.)




  Exam: 70-270 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP
  Professional
  Course 2272 Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional –
  5 days




  How to certify
      1. For Windows 2000 : Attend courses 2151 MS Windows 2000 Network &
         Operating System Essentials and 2152 Implementing MS Windows 2000
         Professional & Server and undertake study to prepare for the exam of your
         choice.
      2. For Windows XP : Attend courses 2151 MS Windows 2000 Network &
         Operating System Essentials (or A+ or Network + courses) and 2272
         Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional and
         undertake study to prepare for the exam 70-270 Installing, Configuring,
         and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
      3. Candidates must pass one exam either Exam: 70-210 Installing,
         Configuring and Administering MS Windows 2000 Professional OR Exam:
         70-215 Installing, Configuring and Administering MS Windows 2000 Server
         OR Exam: 70-270 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft
         Windows XP Professional.
      4. To book your exams logon to the On-line Prometric testing system
         www.2test.com this will minimise your waiting time and provides great
         service. Alternatively, call Prometric on 1800 800 430. Ensure you have
         your Prometric ID and credit card or alternative method of payment
         available. If you don’t have a Prometric ID you can obtain one when you
         contact Prometric.
