imported about 49.5 million tons of soybeans, covering 75.6% of its total demand. It is
estimated that China’s soybean import will reach 56% of the world’s total by 2012.

other hand, new uses of soybean, especially in many eco‐friendly ways as alternative energy
and industrial material, will have a great market potential in a country like China, a huge
developing economy bearing high pressure on energy demand and environmental
Generally, to better fulfill the domestic demand for soybean and develop its soybean
industry in an all‐round way, China needs to enhance cooperation and exchange with
outside world to strengthen its capacity in the following sectors of soybean industry.

Deep and precise processing technologies for soybean
Industrial application technologies and products of soybean
