Course Description: Lower Elementary PE

Course Description:
The physical education program will consist of three main areas of focus:
MOVEMENT: Locomotor (skip, jump, hop, etc.) and non-locomotor (bend, twist, squat,
etc.) movements
SKILL: Basic motor skills necessary for successful participation in a variety of games,
sports, and activities. This includes throwing, catching, kicking, dribbling, etc.
HEALTH CONCEPTS: These will be introduced throughout the program and will help
your child relate physical activity to a variety of health concepts (heart rate, safety,
nutrition, etc.) and give more purpose to their participation.
All games, sports, and activities will be conducted at developmentally appropriate levels
with an emphasis on safety.
