					                 RULES FOR THE 2011 RALLY TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY 4TH JUNE
                            HOSTED BY BWLCH & CRICKHOWELL YFC

                                   PRE RALLY COMPETITIONS
                         All Individual Competitions will be worth 25 Points
                                   and Team Competitions 50 Points

                         Please note the following overall themes:
        2011 ROYAL WELSH SHOW – ‘BATTLING THE ELEMENTS’ / ‘BRWYDRO’R ELFENNAU’
                                 2011 NFYFC – ‘MUSICALS’

1. CLUB MINUTE BOOK.
   To be hand written - from AGM 2010 – 30th April 2011. To include AGM Minutes and a copy of
   Annual Accounts and Rally Competitions. Not to be re-written. Members to be 26 years of age or
   under on 1st September 2010. Total – 100 Marks. [Please note that this is a compulsory
   competition]. (Closing Date for entries - 4.00pm Friday 6th May 2011. (1 entry allowed per
   Club)

2. CLUB REPORT FOR BRECKNOCK BEACON 2011.
   Club Reports must contain a minimum of 250 words and under a maximum of 400 words, covering
   the period from April 2010 to the end of March 2011. [Please note that Club Officers listed will
   not be included in the number of words]. Please submit 3 photographs if possible which will be
   included, as this will add interest to your report and the Year Book, no marks to be awarded for
   this. Members to be 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010. Total – 100 Marks. [Please
   note that this is a compulsory competition as the reports are needed for the Brecknock
   Beacon]. (Closing Date for entries – 4.00pm Friday 1st April 2011). (1 entry allowed per Club)

3. CLUB RECORD BOOK.
   To depict the club’s previous year. Extra consideration to be given to Record Books which
   incorporate press cuttings, project work and work within the Community. It is to be emphasised
   that Club and not County information is required. Members to be 26 years of age or under on 1st
   September 2010. Marking System:- Cover Design - 20; Content - 80; Total - 100 Marks. [Clubs
   can use either a traditional scrapbook or a lever arch file for their exhibit, no size restriction].
   (Closing Date for entries - 4.00pm Friday 6th May 2011). (1 entry allowed per Club)

4. RALLY 2011 POSTER.
   Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to design an A4 Poster in any medium
   advertising the Rally. The poster must contain the words: Brecknock YFC Rally and Barn Dance,
   Saturday 4th June 2011; Hosted by Bwlch & Crickhowell YFC; Sponsor: tbc. Total – 100 Marks.
   (The winning entry will be used to promote the 2011 Rally). (Closing Date for entries – 4.00pm
   Friday 1st April 2011). (No restriction on number of entries allowed per Club

5. A2 FASHION BOARD.
   Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010. The board should be A2 in size. Each
   board should include the following 4 items: a) A hand drawn picture of the costume, including
   colour; b) Samples of the materials intended for the costume; c) A computer generated/sourced
   picture of any accessories; d) Summary of the picture to show why and what you have drawn; ▪ The
   exhibit is to be one sided. Competitors to bring their entries on the day and to be prepared to
   answer questions from the judge, for which time will be given. The artwork to be fixed to foam
   core board (sometimes known as Formboard Display Board and readily available from good
   stationers and art supplier retailers). The artwork may be mounted, but must not be framed.
   Entries submitted that are framed will be penalised. Size of board not to exceed A2 (420 x
   594mm). The title or the artwork is to be on the board and must be within the A2 size allowed.
   Marking System:- 4 items included in board – 100; Originality of design – 30; Relevance to theme of
   musical – 20; Overall attractiveness of board – 50 Total per exhibit – 200 Marks. (2 entries
   allowed per Club)

6. PROMOTIONAL SIGN.
   Each Club to build and erect a sign to promote the Rally and Barn Dance 2011. The sign is to be
   erected within the area of the Club no later than 12.00pm Sunday 8th May 2011.
    a) The sign must contain the words: Brecknock YFC Rally & Dance; venue: tbc Saturday 4th June.
       Sponsored by tbc.
    b) The sign must be made of weatherproof material.
    c) The size of the sign must be no less than 1 metre by 1 metre and no more than 3 metres by 3
       metres.
    d) The sign is to be erected in a prominent position but shall not be placed on a highway or a
       roadside verge.
    e) The sign to be taken down and brought to the Rally Site. This to be carried out between
       Wednesday Evening 1st June and Saturday Morning 4th June. Clubs are asked to contact the
       YFC Office to arrange a convenient time. Failing to do this will result in disqualification.
    f) A map of the area or directions to the site of the sign is to be in the YFC Office by 12.00 noon
       Friday 6th May 2011. This is so that the Judge(s) can find it!
    [Please note that this is a compulsory competition]. Total Marks – 100. (No restriction on

7. FARM/PLACE NAME SIGN.
   Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to make a sign beforehand. Not previously
   judged to be brought to the Rally and displayed on a post. It should be weatherproof and readable
   at a distance. Members must be available to answer questions from the judges on the day. Total –
   100 Marks. (No restriction on number of entries allowed per Club)

8. TABLE MAKING.
   Team of two members, 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010. Competitors will be
   required to make one 8’ x 2’3” table according to the specifications laid down (see overleaf) and
   bring to the Rally ready for judging. On Rally Day one member to be available to speak to the
   judge. Sponsorship for the wood to be sought - the remaining cost to be paid by the Federation.
   After the competition the table will remain the property of the Federation. Total Marks – 100. (2
   entries allowed per Club)


9. HEREFORD CATTLE JUDGING.
   Team of 2 members, one 26 years of age or under and one 18 years of age or under on 1st
   September 2010 to place one ring of four cattle. Cattle to be judged on breed points. Timing: 15
   minutes allowed for inspection and handling. Reasons: Each competitor will be allowed two
   minutes to state his/her reasons. Competitors who exceed this time limit will incur penalties at a
   rate of two marks for each 15 seconds or part thereof. The marks will be deducted from the
   competitor’s total. (No restriction on number of entries allowed per Club)

10. SECTION B PONY JUDGING.
   Team of 2 members, one 26 years of age or under and one 18 years of age or under on 1st
   September 2010 to place one ring of four ponies. Ponies to be judged on breed points. The ponies
   supplied for the competition will be of a similar type. Timing: 15 minutes allowed for inspection
   and handling. Reasons: Each competitor will be allowed two minutes to state his/her reasons.
   Competitors who exceed this time limit will incur penalties at a rate of two marks for each 15
   seconds or part thereof. The marks will be deducted from the competitor’s total. (No restriction
   on number of entries allowed per Club)

11. PHOTOGRAPHY.
   Theme: ‘Battling the Elements’. Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 will be
   required to produce 4 photographs, one of each element, 6” x 4”, mounted on an A3 board. The
   photos can be captured using film or digital photography. If digital photography is used as the
   capture method the photographs MUST NOT be digitally enhanced using photographic software on a

   computer. The preferred printing method would be to print the photos from the memory card
   using a commercial photo machine. If a photo machine is used the appropriate size can be selected
   and the image can be turned into black and white, sepia or colour but no other alterations can be
   done for example images, brightness/contrast, colour restoration/balance or any method which
   would digitally alter the photo quality. Photos should be self explanatory, with no other wording
   other than the title. Scale of marks: Each photo worth 15 points - 60; Display – 20; Relevance to
   theme – 20; Total – 100 marks. (2 entries allowed per Club)


12. ‘MIND CYMRU’ POWER POINT PRESENTATION.
   Team of 3 members, 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to produce a Power Point
   Slide Show to raise awareness of the Wales YFC Charity of the Year ‘Mind Cymru’. 6 slides to be
   put on a disk - slide shows may be in English only, Welsh only or Bilingual. All slideshows to be
   submitted to the YFC Office by Friday 6th May 2011 ready for judging prior to the Rally. Marking
   System: Interpretation of theme – 20; Content – 40; Presentation – 20; Overall Effect - 20; Total –
   100 Marks. The slideshows will be displayed on paper format on Rally Day. (2 entries allowed per
   Club)

                                            GROUP A
                                       TEAM COMPETITIONS
                                              50 POINTS
1.    DRESSING UP COMPETITION – CHARACTER FROM A MUSICAL.
     Team of two members, 16 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to dress up a Club
     Leader/Senior Member as a character from a Musical. All costumes to be made on the day and
     therefore no work to be undertaken beforehand. (Teams will be penalised if costumes have been
     made beforehand or if they have been hired). On completion there will be a parade of models
     before the Judge. Please note: The Club Leader/Senior Member who is being dressed up must
     remain until the parade has been completed and the judge is happy for everyone to leave. Time
     allowed: 1 hour. Marking System: Originality - 25; Team Work - 25; Overall Effect - 50; Total -
     100 Marks. (3 entries allowed per Club)
2.    MIME A SCENE FROM A MUSICAL OR AN OPERA.
     Team of a minimum of 2 members and maximum of 10 members 26 years of age or under on 1st
     September 2010 to mime a scene from a musical or opera where one of the elements is an
     integral part of the performance. Not to exceed 6 minutes including the setting and clearing of
     the stage. Penalties: Up to 15 seconds overtime – 2 penalty marks; up to 30 seconds overtime – 5
     penalty marks and a further 5 penalty marks will be deducted for every 15 seconds thereafter.
     Equipment: Competitors to provide their own CD’s/Minidiscs/mp3 files (no tapes are allowed).
     Marking System: Miming & Expression – 20; Costumes – 20; Entertainment Value – 30; Visual Effect
     – 20; Overall Effect – 10; Total – 100 Marks. (1 entry allowed per Club)

3.    YFC UNDER THE HAMMER.
     Team of 2 members, one 26 years of age or under and one 18 years of age or under on 1st
     September 2010. One member to act as auctioneer and the other to act as clerk. Team members
     will individually value twelve items normally found in sales and to be responsible for selling one
     item. The valuation slips to be handed in to the judge prior to the sale. Competitors must
     compete individually when valuing items and only work together for the auctioneering. Marking
     System: Valuation – 40; Audibility and style of sale – 60; Total – 100 Marks. (1 entry allowed per
     Club)

4.    CUSTOMISE CHALLENGE.
     Team of 3 members, two 26 years of age or under and one 18 years of age or under on 1st
     September 2010 to customise two outfits for a fashion show taking inspiration from the elements.
     Items of clothing to be purchased from a charity shop, which will form the basis of two outfits.
     The clothing items should be customised using any medium, taking inspiration from any of the
     four elements – earth, air, water and fire. An A3 mood board to be produced for each outfit that
     documents the customising journey (this should include a picture of the garments in original
     state). At the Rally, the team will stage a fashion show – one team member will act as compare
     and the other two members will model the outfits. Costings: No more than £20 to be spent on
     charity shop clothing (receipts to be presented). The budget for customisation should not exceed
     £5 (receipts to be presented). Complete customisation costs to be presented. Time: Fashion Show
     – maximum time allowed for each team is 5 minutes. Marking System: Customised Outfit 1 – 25;
     Customised Outfit 2 – 25; Commentary – 15; Modelling – 15; Overall Presentation – 20; Total – 100
     Marks. (1 entry allowed per Club)

5.    RECYCLED GARDEN BAND.
     Band to consist of a maximum of 10 members, 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010
     and conductor – additional member, 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to perform in
     a recycled garden band to entertain the crowd. Time: maximum of 4 minutes. Penalties: Up to 15
     seconds overtime – 2 penalty marks; up to 30 seconds overtime – 5 penalty marks and a further 5
     penalty marks will be deducted for every 15 seconds thereafter. Marking System: Performance –
     30; Originality – 30; Music – 40; Total – 100 Marks. (1 entry allowed per Club)

6.    WOODWORK COMPETITION – GARDEN FURNITURE.
     Team of 2 members 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to make a table and seating
     for two of their own design. The furniture should be suitable for outside use. Time allowed – 2
     hours. Marking System: Quality of workmanship, structural soundness and design – 80; Team work
     – 10; Quality of tools and safety in use – 10; Total – 100 marks. Equipment: Competitors must
     supply their own tools, chainsaws will not be allowed. Battery powered drills will be allowed.
     Screws and/or bolts may be used but these must be supplied by the competitors. No nail guns
     allowed. Manual staple guns will be allowed. Materials: At the Royal Welsh Show finals,
     competitors will be supplied with: tbc. All timber at the Royal Welsh Show will be sawn
     treated. Competitors to supply their own nails. (2 entries allowed per Club)

7.    COOKERY & COOKERY QUESTIONAIRE - Theme “MUSICALS”.
     Team to consist of 3 members, one 26 years of age or under, one 21 years of age or under and one
     16 years of age or under on 1st September 2010. Each team will be required to prepare four
     dishes for a Dinner for an After Show Party - to include at least one savoury and one sweet dish.
     Each dish will be required to serve two people. A “dish” may include more than one item that
     forms a total and a drink does not count as one dish. Teams will be required to complete a Food
     Hygiene questionnaire. Competitors may provide and use two gas rings only, no other heat is
     allowed. Electricity is not available. Competitors will be required to provide: a) All equipment
     other than table; b) All ingredients (these may be brought to the competition already weighed out
     and vegetables ready washed). DISPLAYS: Competitors will be allowed a maximum display space
     of 90cm (width) by 60cm (depth) in which to display the dishes to their best advantage. DISPLAYS
     WHICH EXCEED THESE DIMENSIONS WILL BE PENALISED AND AUTOMATICALLY PLACED IN LAST
     POSITION. There are no limitations on the contents of the displays, although competitors must: a)
     Display a menu card; b) Display details of recipes and costing, provide receipts to Secretary’s
     Point on the day; c) Ensure recipes are made available throughout the practical session for judges
     to examine; d) Display a nutrient card. Judges will place emphasis on marking displays that
     complement the dishes. Scale of Marks: Practical cookery skills, including teamwork – 50;
     Finished dishes, suitability and variety – 15; Overall display and interpretation of theme – 15;
     Questionnaire – 10; Taste – 10; Total – 100 Marks. Timing: One hour to include preparation and
     tidying of the site. Competitors will be penalised at the rate of one mark per minute or part
     thereof over allotted time. Display bays may be set up outside the one-hour preparation time into
     the allotted space – 30 minutes before the competition commences will be available for this. The
     completion of the Food Hygiene questionnaire will be outside of the one-hour preparation and
     cooking time. Competitors must wear white coats and be thoroughly smart in their appearance.
     Competitors will be required to wear hairnets or hats. (2 entries allowed per Club)

8.   GENERATION GAME.
     Team of 2 members, one 26 years of age or under and one 18 years of age or under on 1st
     September 2010. Competitors will be required, individually or as a team, to complete/perform a
     task as demonstrated by the judge in a given amount of time. All equipment will be supplied.
     Total – 100 Marks. (Maximum of 1 team allowed per Club)

9.   ONE MAN AND HIS DOG.
     Team of 2 members, one 26 years of age or under and one 18 years of age or under on 1st
     September 2010. One member to be dressed as a dog and blindfolded, then directed on all fours
     through an obstacle course by means of whistles only by the second member. Time allowed: 5
     minutes maximum. Marking System: Dress – 25; Course – 75; Total – 100 Marks. (1 entry allowed
     per Club)

10. FACE PAINTING.
    Team of 2 members. The model may be 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010, member
    face painting must be 18 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 and can depict any theme.
    Teams to provide their own materials, no other accessories allowed. Time allowed: 30 minutes.
    Total – 100 Marks. (2 entries allowed per Club)

11. KARAOKE.
    A minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 5 members, 26 years of age or under on 1st
    September 2010. Teams will be issued with a list of songs week beginning 9th May 2011. On Rally
    Day a few minutes before going on stage teams will pick two of these listed songs out of a hat
    and sing one in karaoke style. Teams will be given 2 minutes to perform. No costumes or props
    allowed. Total – 100 Marks. (Maximum of 1 team allowed per Club)

12. SUFFOLK SHEEP JUDGING.
    Team of 2 members, one 26 years of age or under and one 18 years of age or under on 1st
    September 2010 to place one ring of four sheep. Sheep to be judged on breed points. Timing: 15
    minutes allowed for inspection and handling. Reasons: Each competitor will be allowed two
    minutes to state his/her reasons. Competitors who exceed this time limit will incur penalties at a
    rate of two marks for each 15 seconds or part thereof. The marks will be deducted from the
    competitor’s total. (No restriction on number of entries allowed per Club)

                                              SPECIAL CLASS
                                              CLUB EFFORT
                                               100 POINTS

MAIN RING DISPLAY – ‘BATTLE OF THE ELEMENTS’.
A team of 4 members, one 26 years of age or under, one 21 years of age or under, one 18 years of age or
under and one 16 years of age or under on 1st September 2010. Four members to dress up to depict the
elements and one member to present a commentary in English or Welsh for which 2 minutes will be
allocated, while the fancy dress section is being judged. The team will then participate in an It’s a
Knockout style race with obstacles and hurdles to manoeuvre. No fancy dress to be removed prior to the
race except for changing into more appropriate footwear. Timing: Maximum time allowed for the
commentary is 2 minutes. Penalties: Penalty marks at a rate of 2 per 15 seconds or part thereof will be
incurred if teams go over or under time. No time restriction on the race. Marking System: Costume – 40;
Commentary – 20; Race – 40; Total – 100 Marks. (1 entry allowed per Club)

                                          OPEN COMPETITIONS

YFC BOYS TUG-OF-WAR COMPETITION
Teams will consist of eight pulling members. A maximum of two members of that team MAY be between
the ages of 15 and 18 years on 1st September 2010, and the remainder of the team MUST be 18 years of
age by 4th June 2011 to be eligible to pull. Please note this is for the Rally Only. For the Royal Welsh
Show, teams will consist of eight pulling members. A maximum of two members of that team may be
between the ages of 15 and 18 years on 1st September 2010, and the remainder of the team must be
over 18 years and 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010. Should the winning team from the
Rally not comply with these ages then the next placed team with the correct ages will be invited to
represent the Federation at the Show. The 2012 NFYFC Tug-of-War Rules shall apply as set by the A.A.A.
Weight - 680kg. Competitors’ boots or shoes must not be ‘faked’ in any way, i.e. the sole, heel and side of
the heel shall be perfectly flush. No metal toecaps or metal toe plates are permitted. Metal heel tips that
are flush on the side and the bottom of the heel are permitted. (Tug-of-War Boots diagram below). The
Judge(s) has/have the power and responsibility to disqualify a team or teams after a caution or disqualify
without caution for any offence against the rules. (Please note that all teams will be weighed, with the
winning team representing the Federation). (No restriction on number of entries per Club)

YFC GIRLS TUG-OF-WAR COMPETITION
Rules as for Boys’ Tug-of-War Competition above. Weight - 580kg. (No restriction on number of entries
per Club)

MIXED TUG-OF-WAR COMPETITION
Teams shall consist of eight pulling members all of whom must be 17 years of age or under on 1st
September 2010. There must be a minimum of 4 girls in the team. Other rules will apply as for the Male
Tug-of War Competition as above. Please note there are NO weight regulations for this section. (No
restriction on number of entries per Club)




 ALL TEAMS TO REPORT TO YFC OFFICE ON RALLY DAY BETWEEN 12.00 NOON – 1.00PM TO WEIGH IN.

                                            GROUP B
                                    INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS
                                               25 POINTS


1.    SENIOR SHEEP SHEARING.
     Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 with own Shearing Head to shear two
     sheep. The BISCA Rules and marking system for 2011 will apply. (2 entries allowed per Club)

2.    INTERMEDIATE SHEEP SHEARING.
     Member 21 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 with own Shearing Head to shear two
     sheep. The BISCA Rules and marking system for 2011 will apply. (2 entries allowed per Club)

3.    JUNIOR SHEEP SHEARING.
      Member 18 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 with own Shearing Head to shear two
      sheep. The BISCA Rules and marking system for 2011 will apply. (2 entries allowed per Club)

4.    LADIES SHEARING.
      Girl member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 with own Shearing Head to shear
      one sheep. The BISCA Rules and marking system for 2011 will apply. (2 entries allowed per Club)

5.    HAND SHEARING.
     Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to shear one ewe, then roll and secure
     fleece within 12 minutes. Any competitor exceeding this time will incur penalties. The BISCA
     Rules for 2011 will apply. (2 entries allowed per Club)
      PLEASE NOTE: A member can only compete in one section of the machine sheep shearing
      competitions.

6.     WOOL ROLLING.
      Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 (male or female) to wind two lots of
      wool. The BISCA Rules for 2011 will apply.
       RULES
      1. A draw will be made prior to the start of the competition.
      2. Each competitor will attend two shearers who will operate in a synchronised staggered
         procedure. No hindrance or contact with the shearer is allowed. Blatant assistance by the
         shearer will be penalised.
      3. Competitors board, floor area and slatted table must be clean at the start.
      4. Each time the shearer brings a sheep onto the boards, the shearing area must be clean.
      5. Oddments are placed in the appropriate bins straight away.
      6. The slatted table must be used for rolling the fleeces and the table must be clean for each
         throw. Penalties will apply where the thrown fleece is not flat and fully exposed on the table,
         where fleece is hanging over and off the table, and when the fleece is not the right way up
         i.e. tips up for crossbeds, tips down for Blackface, Herdwick, etc.
      7. Each fleece is rolled in the BWMB approved manner i.e. britch to neck and secured with a
         neck tuck-in. The belly-wool must either be placed into the same fleece from which it has
         been taken out or into an oddments box. A waiting fleece may be placed on a clean floor
         area.
      8. When the rolled fleece may be placed in the allocated container it is deemed to be finished
         and can be removed for ‘Table’ judging.
      9. All wools must be kept within the designated area.
     10. On completion the work area is left clean.
     11. Competitors must not interfere with their wools after that have signalled that they have

     13. Competitors are responsible for supplying their own broom.
     14. All competitors compete at their own risk.
     15. A judge has the right to switch off the machine or disqualify any competitor whose work or
         conduct on the boards / floor area is detrimental to the image of competition shearing and
         wool-handling.
     16. The Chief Wool-handling Steward will have the overall responsibility for the running of the
         competition. Disputes must be lodged with the Chief Steward within 30 minutes of completion
         of the event.

     Method of scoring:
     The score sheets – (time, Board and Table) are collated as follows:
     Time: the time starts simultaneously on completion of shearing and stops when each competitor
             signals that they have finished by raising their hand/broom to clearly indicate this. The
             time in seconds is divided by 15 seconds for each penalty point.
     Board: the Judges operational penalty points are totalled
     Table: the Judges ‘Table’ penalty points for rolled fleeces and oddments is totalled.

     Then Time, Board and Table penalty points are entered on a Master Score Sheet and totalled. The
     competitor with the lowest aggregate score is the winner.
     In the event of a tie, the competitor with the lowest ‘Table’ penalties will take precedence. If
     there is still a tie, the competitor with the lowest penalties for ‘Board work’ will take precedence.
     Should any stoppages occur through the fault of the machine or through a sheep escaping, a time
     allowance or a re-run will be given at the Chief Stewards discretion. (2 entries allowed per Club)

7.    JUNIOR FLORAL ART. Theme: “Musicals”.
     Member 16 years of age or under on 1st September 2010. The floral art piece to be created
     individually as follows:- Subject: “A bouquet for a leading lady/man with the theme Musicals”
     Cost not to exceed £25 excluding foliage, receipts to be brought to the Competition – (this is
     for the Rally only). Each exhibit will be displayed to their best advantage: All exhibits must be
     the unaided work of the competitors and whilst competing, competitors must not
     communicate directly or indirectly with any person other than Judges and Stewards. If oasis is
     to be used, new pieces must be used on the day of the competition. Timing: allowance of one
     hour, with a further ten minutes to check that arrangements have not been disturbed during
     cleaning-up operations. Total - 100 Marks. (2 entries allowed per Club)

     STATEMENT FROM NAFAS (The National Association of Flower Arranging Societies of Great
     Britain).
     An EXHIBIT is composed of natural plant material, with or without accessories, contained within a
     space as specified in a show schedule. Backgrounds, bases, containers, drapes, exhibit titles and
     mechanics may always be included in an exhibit, unless otherwise stated. More than one
     placement may always be included, unless otherwise stated. In all exhibits natural plant material
     should predominate.

     An ACCESSORY is a) anything other than natural plant material in an exhibit, such as coral,
     feathers, sea fan, shells, stones b) natural plant material which has been tooled or crafted to
     resemble non-plant forms, e.g. birds nest, corn dolly, wooden figurine. Accessories, e.g. cakes,
     figurines, needlework, may be decorated in anyway but greater credit should be given for the use
     of natural plant material where appropriate.
     NAFAS Rules state that disqualification will take place for the following reasons:-
         a) Failure to comply with any specific requirements of a class as stated in a show schedule, i.e.
             the measurements or the components.
         b) Inclusion of fresh plant material that does not have roots or the cut ends of stems in water
             or water-retaining material. Exceptions: Air Plants, Cacti, Fruits, Grass Turf, Lichen, Moss,
             Succulents, Vegetables and long lasting plant material (including strong fibrous stems) which
             will remain turgid for the duration of a show. (Definition of turgid - the state of firmness of
             plant tissue resulting from adequate moisture, causing the plant cells to be fully expanded).
         c) Inclusion of artificial plant material (unless specifically allowed by a show schedule).

     unaided work of the competitors and whilst competing, competitors must not communicate
     directly or indirectly with any person other than Judges and Stewards. If oasis is to be used,
     new pieces must be used on the day of the competition. Timing: allowance of one hour, with a

    Member 14 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to copy and complete a passage provided
    (approximately 150 words) in 20 minutes. 5 minutes will be allowed to read through the passage

11. IDENTIFICATION.
    Member 16 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to identify Farm Animal Breeds. Total –
    100 Marks. (3 entries allowed per Club)

12. IDENTIFICATION.
    Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to identify artistes from a list of songs
    provided. Total – 100 Marks. (3 entries allowed per Club)

13. CARTOON CHARACTER DRAWING.
    Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 is required to draw, in pencil a cartoon
    character from a picture which will be provided on the day. Paper will be supplied but competitors
    must supply their own different thickness pencils, blender, sharpener, rubber and nothing else.
    Time allowed: 30 minutes. Total – 100 Marks. (2 entries allowed per Club)

14. WELLIE WANGING.
    Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to throw a Wellington Boot (provided)
    from a given position. Wellingtons can be thrown under or over arm, either from a standing or
    running position. The winner will be the member to throw the longest distance. Total – 100 Marks.

15. WELLIE WANGING.
    Member 16 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 to throw a Wellington Boot (provided)

    be provided. No electric carving knife to be used. The loaf must be completely sliced. (2 entries
    allowed per Club)

17. MALE QUAD BIKE CHALLENGE.
    Member 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2010. Using a four-wheel machine (which will be
    supplied), competitors will attempt the obstacles laid down without knocking over any cones,
    stopping or putting his foot down. If any fault is incurred on an obstacle, then a penalty of five
    seconds is added to the competitors score. The driver will be timed over the whole course and any
    penalties added to the final time taken. The winner will be the driver with the lowest score.
    Helmets must be worn and should be provided by competitors. Members must hold a current ATV
    Certificate which must be produced on the day. Total – 100 Marks. (2 entries allowed per Club)

    Member 16 years of age or under on 1st September 2010 will be required to decorate a plate. All
