Business and Professional at Highlands are also very proud of its quality assurance
procedures, many which mirror best practice in educational institutions across the UK. All
our tutors are not only experts within their vocational area but are all teacher trained so you
have the benefit of their vast experience whilst in the knowledge that they are using best
educational practice.

We also welcome Glenda Rivoallan to the team at Business and Professional. Glenda has
for many years successfully managed the CYQ fitness programmes and is a regular
columnist in the Jersey Evening Post. Glenda is now managing the Chartered Management
Institute (CMI) programmes and would be delighted to discuss your training requirements
with you, but be warned you could end up doing a fitness course as well!

As the nights draw in and students find themselves attending evening classes, where they
arrive and leave the premises in darkness, they always tell us its reassuring that we have a
floodlit car park directly opposite the premises, constantly patrolled by our Caretaking staff.
For many students it can be quite intimidating to have to leave their place of study to walk
to the car park in the hours of darkness.

We look forward to seeing you.

Study for an MBA from a Top Ten University in Jersey...
An MBA can enhance a CV and, considerably improve career opportunities, particularly in today’s economic
climate, but for many people in Jersey studying for an MBA seems out of reach because of the time and travel
commitment involved. But now Highlands College is bringing a top flight Executive MBA to the Island that will be
taught in a flexible manner.

Highlands has been working successfully with Southampton University since 2008 on the MBA project and the first
crop of graduates is soon to finish. The programme has been a part of the Guernsey training scene for many years
and our colleagues at the GTA University Centre were instrumental in its introduction in Jersey.

The next intake to the MBA will provide Jersey managers with the opportunity to study for an MBA from one of the
UK’s top universities. The programme is accredited by AMBA (the Association of MBA’s) which is the standard by
which a good MBA is judged.

The University of Southampton is ranked in the top 100 world universities, one of only 17 UK universities to make it
into that exclusive club. The MBA is taught by university staff who are some of the country’s top management
teachers with a strong blend of practical and academic expertise. Southampton is one of the country’s top
universities teaching financial studies and so it is a perfect partner institution for Jersey.

Participants for this programme need to have had at least five years significant managerial experience and an honours
degree or equivalent qualifications. It is an ideal next step for people with Institute of Directors, Chartered
Management Institute, Accountancy and other professional qualifications.

The MBA will be over some twenty plus weekends over two years at Highlands University Centre and it is expected
that the dissertation will take another six months to complete.
