NOTICE TO FREQUENCY
New Security Features for
ICASA Licence Certiﬁcates
This Notice serves to alert all frequency spectrum licensees of the new
security features that the Authority has introduced into the design for
Frequency Spectrum Licence/Radio Dealers Certiﬁcates, Type Approval
Certiﬁcates and ICASA Inspector Cards.
The new security features are being introduced following reports of
fraud and impersonations that were brought to the attention of the
Authority and reported to the South African Police Service. Criminal
prosecutions were pursued and a number of suspects were convicted
as a result.
Frequency Spectrum Licence/Radio Dealers Certiﬁcates display the
following security features: ● ICASA Logo with a silver in-lay on top
left corner ● Silver hologram on top right corner ● Embossed ICASA
acronym at bottom left corner.
Type Approval Certiﬁcates (Telecommunications or Radio Equipment)
display the following security features: ● ICASA Logo with silver in-
lay, centred at the top of the certiﬁcate ● Silver hologram on top right
corner ● Embossed ICASA acronym at bottom left corner.
All ICASA Inspectors carry identity cards that outline their
responsibilities as per the ICASA Act of 2005, displaying the following
features: Front Side: ● ICASA Logo without in-lay ● Name of Inspector
and ID number ● Passport photo of Inspector. Back Side: ● Name of
Inspector and Employee Number ● Powers of Inspector as provided for
in the ICASA Act ● Hologram on left side of the card ● Signature of the
Chairperson of ICASA.
