Survey Highlights

Staffing Levels

   ‐   74.6% of members believe that in their workplace, staffing levels are not high enough to
       provide an adequate service level
   ‐   69% of members do not know how the employer sets service levels
   ‐   64% of those surveyed indicated their profession is not fully staffed.

Full‐time Staffing Levels

   ‐   26% indicated they need 2 additional FTE’s
   ‐   19% indicated they need 3 additional FTE’s
   ‐   11% indicated they need 4 additional FTE’s
   ‐   9% indicated they need 5 additional FTE’s

Part‐time Staffing Levels

   ‐   21% indicated that 1 additional position is required
   ‐   17% indicated that 2 additional positions are required
   ‐   12.6% indicated that 3 or more additional positions are required

Casual Staffing Levels

   ‐   14.1% indicated that 1 additional casual position is required
   ‐   18,9% indicated that 2 additional casual positions are required
   ‐   20.9% indicated that 3 or more additional casual positions are required
   ‐   64.6% of casual members work greater than 5 hours per week
   ‐   51.4% of casual members work greater than 11 hours per week

Full‐time Vacancies

   ‐   12% indicated that there is currently 1 FTE vacant
   ‐   12% indicated that there are currently 2 FTE’s vacant
   ‐   10.1% indicated that there are currently 3 or more FTE’s vacant

Full‐time Vacancies not being posted

   ‐   37.9% said that positions have been vacated but not posted by the Employer
   ‐   22.9% indicated that there was 1 FTE vacant and not posted by the Employer

   ‐   12.6% indicated that there were 3 or more FTE’s vacant and not posted by the Employer

Part‐time Vacancies not being posted

   ‐   22.9% of part‐time vacancies are not being posted by the Employer

Why vacancies are not posted

   ‐   31% of those who inquired were told that budget and/or funding was the reason for not
       posting positions.

Waitlists

   ‐   41% of departments have waitlists
   ‐   35% indicated their employer had not made them aware of plans to reduce the waitlists.
   ‐   For urgent cases:
           • 35% indicated the waitlist is 1‐7 days
           • 28% indicated the waitlist is 1‐4 weeks
           • 14% indicated the waitlist is 1‐4 months
           • 5% indicated the waitlist is greater than 4 months
   ‐   For elective cases:
           • 15% indicated the waitlist is 1‐4 weeks
           • 27% indicated the waitlist is 1‐4 months
           • 17% indicated the waitlist is greater than 4 months

the residents of Saskatchewan.
