beaches. From placid backwaters and lagoons, bays and rough lava-rocked seas,
marine estuaries with fish, crashing surf, powdery golden sands or palm fringed
shores - India has them all.
  Whether you are want to lie on the sands and soak up the sun or dive and fish or
enjoy some crazy water sports, it can all be found. So, book flights to India and enjoy

  Gorkana Beach
  This is a small, remote and holy town in northern Karnataka and has four of India’s
most secluded and spectacular beaches all nestled nearby. Gorkana is how Goa used
to be before it turned into a hedonist’s haven, although developers already have their
eye on this region so go now before it changes forever.
  Baga Beach
  This is a popular beach with tourists so it’s fairly busy most of the time, but this is
the place to go if you are a fan of action. From jet skiing, dolphin watching, para
sailing, water skiing and kite surfing to bars, clubs and pubs, this beach is the place to
live it up in the water then relax with a cocktail, or feast on fantastic cuisine until the
sun sets. At night on Saturdays there is Arpora market which would satisfy even the
most fervent shopaholic.
  Palolem Beach
  This is arguably Goas most beautiful beach with forests of coconut palms and a mile
long crescent shaped curve of sand. It attracts diverse crowds to its shores as it offers
both relaxation and adventure. You can dolphin spot or take out a fishing boat,
Kayaking is a great way to explore and there are hiking trails ending with spectacular
sunsets for those who love walking. During low tide you can walk to Butterfly Beach
and there is also a little local market during the day.
  Marari Beach
  This is a little known beach in Kerala and is perfect for those who enjoy exploring
undiscovered backwaters. It is a peaceful and relaxing beach where you can be serene
and tranquil among the palms and white sands. There are some day trips available in
the local area to see birds and to navigate the twisting canals. The big draw here is the
Marari Beach Resort which captures the heart and soul of the beach and offers
Ayurveda treatments, a spa, yoga classes and rooms, all in breath-taking surroundings.
  Mahabalipuram Beach
  This beach is one hour south of Chennai in Tamil Nadu and is the pick of the
beaches on the east coast. There are interesting rock sculptures and temples to see
including the beautiful Shore Temple right at the water’s edge. There is also a
traditional dance festival located there during January. For delicious food, try the
family run, rooftop Gecko Café.
  Gopnath Beach
  This stunning beach is the summer home of Maharaja Krishna Kumar Singhji of
Bhavnagar and is the favourite beach site of Gujarat. It has breathtakingly beautiful
sea coast with spectacular limestone cliffs, prefect for long walks and just beautiful
sea views. Bird lovers will be able to spot many colourful varieties.
 Pondicherry Beaches
 The beaches offer miles of nirvana in Pondicherry. Cool and soothing waters,
sparkling sands and all in splendid seclusion. There are resorts, cottages, cafes and
bars to be found wall with spectacular excellent view of the sea. Serenity Beach has
virgin sands, ideal for a quick dip, a touch of the sun and a cool reprieve in the shade.
Karaikal Beach has magnificent views of the sun rise over the bay, while the Arasalar
River reaches out to the sea. You can canoe or kayak in picture-book surroundings,
play a round of beach volley ball or go armed with angling gear and spend an
afternoon out on the water.
