                                           Clinical Nurse Specialist – Palliative Care

            To address and co-ordinate complex care challenges across a variety of settings through the roles of expert
             clinician, leader, educator, consultant and agent of change.
            To guide and develop interdisciplinary teams to achieve excellence in palliative care
            To develop a practice network across health care sectors to optimise patient care
             Demonstrate QCH values: accountability, innovation, respect

            Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree or a health-related field
            Masters in Nursing or health-related field (applicants who do not hold a Masters degree will be considered
             for a modified version of this role to be called Nurse Specialist)
            Current certificate of competence from College of Nurses of Ontario
            Member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and the Provincial/ Canadian Clinical Nurse
             Specialist Interest Group.
            Current certification in Hospice Palliative Care Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association
            Minimum of 5 years recent and relevant clinical nursing experience
            2 years palliative care experience
            Excellent research, teaching and consulting skills, as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal,
             problem-solving, decision-making, facilitative and collaborative skills.
            Strong communication skills (oral and written)
            Effective application of nursing knowledge
            Good judgment
            Proven ability in independent and collaborative decision making
            Critical analysis skills
            Commitment to ongoing education related to position
            Current BCLS and emergency response training

            Completion of courses related to nursing specialty
            Recent participation on Hospital committees and task teams
            Current certification in Oncology Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association

            The successful applicant will be responsible for his/her own professional development
