					Come and join TRANSED 2010, Hong Kong which offers

        Eight Conference Sessions and Six Study Tours on
                       Accessible Tourism
WHAT is featured in the TRANSED 2010 Programme?

       Associate Professor Simon Darcy, Ph D, Research Director in the School of
        Leisure, Sport and Tourism at the University of Technology, Sydney. Australia
        will deliver the plenary speech on Accessible Tourism: Trust, Destination
        Management & Sustainability
       For the first time in TRANSED history, 25 papers and 10 posters will be featured
        in a dedicated Accessible Tourism Track consisting of 6 technical sessions and
        in the poster gallery.
       Key topics to be covered include how to make transportation, building
        environment, accommodations and destinations accessible and sustainable for
        all travelers. Many interesting papers will be presented on issues and challenges
        in making historic and pilgrimage sites accessible as well as planning for major
        events such as World Expo, Olympics and World Cup.
       Two pre-conference hands-on workshops will be offered by the National
        Accessible Transportation Center, US on Traveler Assistance Training for
        Accessible Airline and the Society for Accessible Travel and Hospitality
        Workshop on Travel Industry Training.
       Three pre-conference technical tours will showcase the accessible air, subway
        and bus transport modes in Hong Kong, combined with the experience of
        accessible tourism sites such as the Lantau Link View Point and Visitors’ Centre,
        Wetland Park, and Nan Lian Gardens.



    



       Theme of the three post conference tours is “China’s New Look on Accessibility”
        in Beijing (Summer Olympics 2008), Shanghai (World Expo 2010) and
        Guangzhou (Asian Games 2010).

WHY should you attend?

       TRANSED 2010 Accessible Tourism Track together with the pre-conference
        workshops serve as forum for exchange on issues, needs, developments, and
        best practices in accessible tourism. These and hands-on training workshops are
        especially timely in the light of the recent passage of the United Nations
        Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability.
       In addition to the many tourism related presentations, numerous conference
        papers on the demographic profile and travel patterns of the well-travelled baby
        boomers and persons with disabilities. Greater understanding of this emerging
        market segment will help the tourism industry respond to their growing needs
        through adopting innovative products, services and staff training.

LANGUAGE of the Conference

The conference will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation in Putonghua for
the plenary sessions. All written communication, abstracts and proceedings will be in
English only.
