     Edwin Stanley Brookes Snr, of Nottingham, first thought of emigrating to New Zealand as early as 1848 and was appointed the
     local agent for the Albertland Emigration Scheme in 1861. In 1862 his three sons Edwin Stanley, George Hovey, and Charles
     Henry, sailed for NZ on the first Albertland emigrant ship Matilda Wattenbach. Their parents and other siblings followed in
     1865.
