White Sands National Monument
Free to Military on Veterans Day
Alamogordo, N.M. – In honor of America’s military, White Sands National Monument will
waive entrance fees on Veteran’s Day, November 11, to all active U.S. military
personnel, veterans, and their families.
“With the presence locally of Holloman Air Force Base, White Sands Missile Range,
and Fort Bliss, we are pleased to offer free admission to White Sands as a small token
of our appreciation for the brave men and women of our military and their families,” said
Superintendent Kevin Schneider.
This entrance fee waiver applies to all federal lands administered by the Departments of
Interior and Agriculture, including all national parks, monuments and national forests.
Entrance fees to White Sands are normally $3 per person. Revenue from the park’s
entrance fees remains is used to support park projects that improve the experience for
visitors.
In 2006, the National Park Service began commemorating Veteran’s Day with a fee-free
day for active and retired U.S. military personnel.
