                     Quick Reference Guide

Begin Using TAVIS Unit  Turn power button on if not already on  select the
number/letter key next to the desired function.

Inspector Login  Enter ID and PIN  select “F2” to Continue.

Change Inspector PIN  Select “7. Change Inspector PIN” from Inspection
Menu  enter new PIN and confirm new PIN entry  select “F2” to Continue 
select secret question from list and enter answer  select “F2” to return to
Inspection Menu.

Conduct Initial Inspection  Select “1. Conduct Initial Inspection” from
Inspection Menu  Login  scan or manually enter VIN and enter required
information  select “F2” to Continue  enter required vehicle data into
appropriate fields  select “F2” to Continue  enter data for inspection items as
requested  “Next”  enter data for inspection items as requested  “Next” to
proceed or “Previous” to go back to previous screen until the Safety Results
Summary Screen is displayed  select “F2” to Continue if results are correct or
highlight an item to return to a previous inspection data entry screen  enter cost
and certificate information (VI-30 if applicable)  submit inspection results 
view Vehicle Inspection Report  select “F12” to return to Inspection Menu.

Conduct Re-inspection  Select “2. Conduct Re-Inspection” from Inspection
Menu  Login  search for previous inspection record  update previously
failed inspection items  complete the inspection process from Safety Results
Summary screen as detailed above in Conduct Initial Inspection.

Cancel Inspection  Within the Safety Inspection select “F12”  Cancel
Inspection Screen will appear  choose a reason from the list or enter “Other
Reason”  select “F2” to continue and return to the Inspection Menu or “F12” to
return to the inspection process without canceling.

Issue VI-30 Certificate  Select “3. Issue a VI-30 Certificate” from Inspection
Menu  search for inspection record  complete one page of required vehicle
information  select “F2” to issue VI-30 and return to Inspection Menu.

Replace Certificate  Select “4. Replace Certificate” from Inspection Menu 
search for inspection record  complete required certificate information  select
“F2” to continue with replacement  view new Vehicle Inspection Report 
select “F12” to return to Inspection Menu.

Manage Certificate Status  Select “6. Manage Certificate Status” from
Inspection Menu  enter relevant certificate (or book) information  select “F2”
to continue with status change  confirmation screen is displayed  select “F2”
to return to Inspection Menu.

Display TAVIS Messages  From the Main Menu select “3. View Stored
Messages”  message list displays  select “F12” to return to Main Menu.

Perform Data Refresh  From the Main Menu select “2. Data Refresh”  wait
for communication status message  select “F12” to return to Main Menu. (This is
on the Inspection Menu too, number “5. Data Refresh”)

Purchase Certificates  From the Main Menu select “4. Certificate Purchase” 
Certificate Sales Application will appear for login  when purchases are complete
select “Alt + R” to return to TAVIS Unit Main Menu.

Receive Inventory At Station  From the Main Menu select “5. Receive
Inventory”  manually enter or scan all certificate books received (20 books at a
time)  select “F2” to continue with receive  confirmation screen is displayed
 select “F2” to return to Main Menu.

View Reports  From the Main Menu select “8. Reports”  select the number
key next to the desired report  enter parameters to run report by  select “F2” to
run report  view report  select “F12” to return to Main Menu.

Configure Connection  From the Main Menu select “a. Configure Connection”
 choose the Connection Type used and enter dialing prefix needed (if applicable)
 select “F3” to Save the settings and return to Main Menu.

Training Mode  From the Main Menu select “6. Training Mode”  Enter ID
and PIN  select “F2” to log in to Inspection Menu - Training Mode  practice
all inspection processes  Remember to logout “0. Logout” of training mode.
