                                  Wildcats Track & Field Update: June 1, 2010


                      LADY WILDCAT STATE TRIPLE JUMP CHAMPION
                         Women’s & Men’s Relay Take 2nd, 3rd & 4th




Lancaster, Ca. –West Los Angeles College track and field team ended their season Saturday at the California
State Championships at Antelope Valley College with a 10th place finish in the team standings.

Sophomore Starasia Childs, led the way for the Wildcats with a first place finish in the triple jump with school
record bound of 41’0.5”. In addition to her triple jump victory, she finished 4th in the long jump and 8th in the
100 hurdles. Her marks of 18’11.75” and 15.06 were also personal bests. The West women finished with 30
points for 10th place. Laney College won the women's title, and Sacramento College and American River
College finished 2nd and 3rd place respectfully. Riverside won the men’s title and Sacramento placed 2nd.

The women’s 4x100 relay team of Cara Jones, Areana Anthony, Reanna Davison, and Keshawna Fisher
finished in 2nd place. The 4x400 relay team of Cydney Graham, Anthony, and Fisher, and Davison placed 3rd.
The men’s 4x100 relay team of Kevin Ally, Jevoni Buchanan, Lentrail Hicks, and Justin Kirkland finished in 4th.
Other medalists for the Wildcats, were Anthony Riley (4th in the 800 meters), Patrick Hunter (4th in the triple
jump), and Johnathan Kelly (6th in the 400 hurdles).

The Wildcats focus will now be finishing out the semester strong in the classroom. The future looks bright for
the program as 12 of the 17 student-athletes that qualified for the state meet are freshman. For the
sophomores

Description: Triple is composed of two parts namely, a long-distance run-up and get as far as possible to the landing area of the jump. Athletes in the triple jump starting from the beginning to the three jumper into the pit, just like its name. This means they must first depress the foot will eventually take off, then a large step for feet, and finally jumped into the pit. In this sport, only players that the best results were recorded.
