USA (39¢) Lady Liberty

     Postage rates in the United States increased to 39¢ effective January 6, 2006. In
anticipation of the new rates, the US Postal Service issued a non‐denominated Lady
Liberty design on December 8, 2005. Due to several different printing companies being
employed,  and  various  formats  that  were  printed,  eleven  different  varieties  can  be
distinguished (and have been assigned a Scott number):

     Determining which version of Lady Liberty stamp is which has proved to be a
difficult task. Hereʹs a quick overview of them all, with the numbers assigned by Scott:

Scott Re-numbering
    The latest Scott Stamp Monthly includes numbering for the recently issued $1 Wildlife stamps of October 20,
2005. Scott has placed these two stamps in with the other high‐value Wildlife definitive issues. In order to do so,
some re‐numbering has taken place, as noted in the chart below.
