This Level 3 course is highly creative, dynamic, and industry focused. The course provides
students with the skills and expertise for the Fashion Promotion, Marketing, PR, and Brand
Development industries. Students have the opportunity to study a number of disciplines
including: graphic design, illustration, fashion photography, styling, packaging and advertising

Highly praised at national level for maintaining excellent achievement in a vocational
environment, students have been shortlisted for prestigious awards including the Young

The course also has a strong focus towards employer engagement which enables students to
work on industry-led projects. These have included designing editorials for the Evening Echo
newspaper, organising fashion shows for Debenhams Retail, managing styling events for the
Royals Shopping Centre and taking part in local exhibitions.

In 2009 the course was shortlisted for a national Association of Colleges Beacon Award for
Innovation in Curriculum Development. Students created a DVD about eating disorders, which
was funded by the NHS and created with collaboration from local film company - New Town
Films. The AoC Judges described the project as ‘an imaginative leadership initiative which
encouraged enrichment of the pastoral curriculum’.

In 2008 the course received funding from Creative Way - a partnership of colleges, universities
and training providers, who recognised the uniqueness of the course. The course team has
been working with universities within the Thames Gateway region to make sure the structure &
content of this course, fits with the expectations of both industry and higher education; this has
provided links with a number of universities, including our own FdA Fashion Communication &
