Why?
CCFCC Bocuse d’Or Canada is a program of The Canadian Culinary Federation (CCFCC) that focuses on engaging
Canadian chefs in international culinary competition, promoting the chef profession and the art of cuisine using
Canadian agri food products. In 2008, CCFCC Bocuse d’Or Canada partnered with Breakfast for Learning (BFL)
uniting a love of food and Canadian cuisine with Breakfast for Learning’s vision to ensure every child in Canada
goes to school well-nourished and ready to learn.
Every year, a series of events are held across the country showcasing Canada’s top chefs and inspired cuisine,
raising funds in support of both the CCFCC Bocuse d’Or Canada competing team and Breakfast for Learning child
nutrition programs nation wide. This endeavour has raised thousands of dollars in support of BFL programs
helping us to nourish the minds and bodies of more than 8,800 children, contributing to their
success each school day.
This year, CCFCC Bocuse d’Or Canada and Breakfast for Learning will kick-off the culinary
celebrations over two days on April 29th and 30th, 2010. Events include a grueling chef’s
competition and sponsors reception all capped-off with a captivating evening of unforgettable
cuisine in Toronto where guests will have the opportunity to meet top Canadian chefs,
including 2011 Competitor Ryan Stone. But the best part is that by feeding you, you are helping
Ryan Stone, Bocuse d’Or
us to feed kids’ success, contributing to a brighter future for Canadian children and youth. Canada 2011 Competitor

What is Bocuse d’Or and who is the CCFCC Bocuse d’Or Canada?
Founded in 1987 by legendary French Chef Paul Bocuse, the Bocuse d’Or
has become the most prestigious culinary competition in the world,
showcasing the talents of chefs who represent twenty-four countries
in an intense and highly charged atmosphere. Before competing in
Lyon, France, each competing chef must participate and win a qualifying
competition in their own country, meaning that only the very best gather
in Lyon for this biennial contest. The competition takes place over two
days attracting over 160,000 attendees from around the world.
(Website: www.bocusedor.com)
CCFCC Bocuse d’Or Canada was formed in response to this challenge and
has competed in France since the beginning sending an impressive roster
of representatives over the years (see attached listing of candidates). This organization is built upon thousands of
freely given hours by professionals and amateurs alike who are passionate about Canada’s quest for worldwide
excellence, but it comes at a cost. Events held across the country raise funds for Breakfast for Learning, CCFCC
Bocuse d’Or Canada’s only national charity partner, and to cover expenses such as training the Canadian candidate,
travel, equipment and supplies to take to Lyon. (Website: www.bocusedorcanada.ca)
