The Kativik Regional Government, a supra-municipal body having jurisdiction over the territory north of
the 55th parallel, notably provides technical assistance to the 14 villages of Nunavik.

The Municipal Public Works Department (MPW) of the KRG is responsible to manage infrastructure
projects for the municipalities (sewage lagoons, water treatment plants, roads infrastructures, buildings)
and for the KRG. It is also responsible to provide technical assistance to the 14 Northern Villages (NVs) in
matters related to operation and maintenance of their heavy equipment fleet and garage management.
For the purpose of executing this agreement, KRG is currently looking for a person to fill the following

                                  (Permanent - Full time)

Reporting to Department Maintenance Coordinator, the Mechanic instructor’s duties and
responsibilities will include, without being limited to:

• Assist and train local mechanics in repairing and maintain heavy equipments of the 14 Northern
  Villages; (diagnostic, solutions, parts specifications, finding resources available)
• Develop training session on new technologies such as computerized problems detection and
• In collaboration with head mechanic and MPW Maintenance Coordinator, develop and implement a
  program of preventive maintenance;
• Assist the head mechanics in management of the garage (parts inventory, annual sealift orders, tools
• Assist local employees to perform maintenance on NVs generators.
• Do other related duties as requested by his supervisor.

The selected candidate must:

• Possess a professional studies certificate (DEP) in heavy equipment mechanics. Relevant work
  experience will also be considered;
• Have a valid qualification certificate in heavy equipment mechanics
• Have five (5) years of relevant experience including heavy equipment (Diesel) repairs;
• Have a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in training other mechanics;
• Have a PEP certification from the SAAQ is a definite asset;
• Write and speak at least two of the following languages: Inuttitut, English or French (working
  knowledge of Inuttitut is a definite asset);
• Be willing to travel in the Nunavik region and live in hotels with shared facilities;
• Be reliable, autonomous and possess a great sense of initiative;
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

Work experience North of 55th parallel is a definite asset.

• Work schedule and place of work: 6-3 rotation schedule: 6 weeks working in the Northern
  Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 3 weeks paid leave (35 hours weekly)

Salary:                 Min. $31,347 - Max. $52,767 a year (Class 7)
Other benefits:         Lodging and boarding when traveling in other communities paid by the Employer,
                        meal and incidental expenses, group insurance, RRSP, etc.
