                                              ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED
On the afternoon of Saturday the 28th of February Tyron Powell
was in the Umgeni Park area when he was informed of two men
busy in a serious altercation at Park Boulevard shopping centre. A
few minutes later he was informed that one of the men was now
                                              unconscious. He attended the scene.

In what appeared to be an alcohol fueled argument between two
men, one had broken a bottle and stabbed the other numerous
times before fleeing on foot. The injured man collapsed in the car
park in the rain, and Tyron contacted Netcare 911. When they
attended the scene a little later he was in a very serious condition.

Tyron stayed on the scene and was speaking to witnesses when a
witness suddenly pointed out two men who were walking nearby.
The witness identified one of the men as the suspect, who was
                                              returning to the scene.

When the men were approached they fled in different directions
and Tyron gave chase to the prime suspect. After a short chase
the man was apprehended in Riverside Road on the river bank. He
was picked up by Greenwood Park SAPS and charged with
                                              attempted murder.

URBAN LEGENDS
There are always horror stories doing the rounds via email which tend to scare a lot of people. A lot of these
have circled the globe a number of times but all of them have their origins – mostly in the USA. The most recent
was of a lady at a filling station who went into the store while filling up. The clerk informed her that someone has
just got into her back seat, but she should not panic as he has already called the police. To cut a long story short
the man in the car was performing an initiation for entry into a gang and his plan was to rape the woman with his
gang members. After some thought, and realizing it would be difficult in this country as we have petrol attendants
at our vehicles, we checked it out on an urban legends website.
The original legend began in 1967, but this story surfaced in Chicago in 2000, and was proven to be false. The
similarities in the story are too many to dismiss – but it does not mean this may never happen anywhere else,
and it is always good to stay safe. Check it out at http://www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/backseat.asp . Its
example number 4 on the page. You will find the www.snopes.com site very interesting and a good reference
after receiving scary emails.
