DATA MAINTENANCE
Getting Started
When ScaleView is first installed the PLU, Ingredient, and Nutrition
databases are empty. The database(s) can be created by one of two methods:
Uploading/importing from selected scale(s) or from scratch. The installing
TEC dealer should only do the upload/import method.

If the database(s) are to be built manually, to add the first record,
double click anywhere below the title “PLU Table” and the PLU
Maintenance form will appear.

Add New PLU
To add a new PLU, double click on any PLU in the
database (preferably one in the same dept), then click the Add
button. The cursor will be in the PLU textbox. At this point a
PLU number must be entered, even if you wish to just close the form. Now
enter all the information related to the PLU. If incorrect data is entered in a
textbox, you will here a beep then the textbox will be cleared. For price and
discount, a decimal does not have to be entered; it will automatically format
to 2 decimal places. Commodity line 1 must have at least 1 space due to the
“DeptCom1” sort index. For the tare field, make sure to enter the correct
increment depending upon the base weight of the scale. If the base weight is
2/5 grams, the tare must be in 2-gram increments (i.e. 2,12,18,122 grams
etc.). If the base weight is 5 grams only, the tare must be in 5-gram
increments (i.e. 5,10,155 grams). Ask your installing dealer if you are not
sure. Please note that the “Fixed” price Mode is not approved by Weights
and Measures Canada, it is allowed only in the U.S. When setting the PLU
price to $00.00, set Price Per to KG Open. When setting By Count PLU’s
with $00.00, set the pieces count to “0” and set Price Per to KG Open. The
sale price may be higher or lower than the
regular price. When sending PLU’s via
complete file download or by batch, if the
sale price is greater than zero, this price will be sent to the scale. If the sale
price equals zero, the regular price is sent to the scale. The sale number
allows 9 different sale “batch’s” for the entire PLU database. This is
explained more in the Set-Back section. A new PLU must be saved before
the editing of Ingredients or Nutrition is allowed. Before clicking the
save button, decide if the batch checkbox is to be checked or not.
When saving the PLU there are 3 options. “YES: save and
add to batch”: this option will save the PLU and set the batch flag on.
“NO: save only”: this option will save
the PLU and set the batch flag off.
“CANCEL: no changes saved”: any
changes including the batch flag will be
ignored.

Edit PLU’s
Double click on the desired PLU to edit. Make the necessary changes,
and then click save. When editing, the PLU number cannot be changed but
the dept number can. If this PLU belongs in another dept, enter the desired
number, save the PLU, and then delete the original. Tip: The SL-9000 can
have 4 lines of commodity printed on the label. If only 2 lines are required,

by using lines 1 and 3, the print will be larger provided the number of
characters is less than 25.
Delete PLU
PLU’s are deleted individually and not by batch. To delete
an item, double click on the desired PLU and the PLU maintenance
form will appear. Click on the “Del PLU” button and a message
box will appear. Before clicking “Yes” make sure the correct PLU has been
selected. The selected PLU, associated Ingredients and Nutrition (if
applicable) will now
be deleted from all
scales in that dept. If
communications is
successful, the PLU,
associated Ingredients and Nutrition will be deleted from the database. If
there is an error at any scale (except “PLU does not exist”), the item will
remain in the database.
To delete a PLU when there is no scale connected: do not have a
scale assigned in the Scale Table to the same department of the PLU to be
deleted.

Add/Edit Ingredients
Each PLU can have up to 38 lines of Ingredients and each
line can be 54 characters long (32 characters if the bold font is
        selected).

Ingredients can be imported from any PLU in the database, just make
sure to enter the correct dept number.

When saving the Ingredients there are 3 options. “YES: save and add
to batch”: this option will save the Ingredients and set the batch flag on.
“NO: save only”: this option will save the Ingredients and set the batch flag
off. “CANCEL: no changes saved”: any changes including the batch flag
will be ignored.

Delete Ingredients
To delete all the Ingredients for a PLU, but not the PLU , delete all
lines and leave a single space in line 1. Save and send to scale.

Add/Edit Nutrition
Each PLU can have nutritional facts linked to it. Serving
Size and Servings Per Container may have a maximum of 18
characters each. However, the total number of characters including
the titles themselves (i.e. Serving Size) cannot exceed 30 characters. This
means that as it stands the field for Servings Per Container will only print 8
characters even though it contains 18. If more characters are needed then the
Titles program in the scale will have to be changed (i.e. Serv./cont. etc.). All
5 digit fields may have a single decimal place. Due to formatting, only the
tab button will move the cursor to the next field.
Nutritional facts may be imported from another PLU. Press the import
button once then enter the correct PLU and dept number. Press the import

button again to import or close to abort import. The save button works the
same as the PLU/ingredient save buttons.

       When saving the Nutrition there
are 3 options. “YES: save and add to
batch”: this option will save the
Nutrition and set the batch flag on.
“NO: save only”: this option will save
the Nutrition and set the batch flag off.
“CANCEL: no changes saved”: any changes Nutrition the batch flag will
be ignored.
Delete Nutrition
The only way to delete nutritional facts using ScaleView is to delete
the PLU. To delete just the nutritional facts but not the PLU itself, this must
be done at the scale.

SCHEDULED BATCHES
Send by Batch with Windows Task Scheduler
Scheduled batches can be performed using the Windows Task
Scheduler. A scheduled batch will error if ScaleView is currently in
operation. A scheduled task will be needed for each department. PLU,
Ingredient, and Nutrition batches are sent for the scheduled task for each
department. Please refer to the Windows manual or help menu to set up
scheduled task(s). The TMCC and LAN (FTP) command switches are the
same, however FTP must be specified for departments using LAN
communications. For TMCC add the following statement to the run
command line “batch,x” where “x” = the department number, after setting
up a scheduled task for the file “scaleview.exe”. See sample.

The only space is between the “.exe” and “batch”. For LAN (FTP) add the
following statement to the run command line “ftpbatch,x” where “x” = the
department number, after setting up a scheduled task for the file
“scaleview.exe”. See sample.

The only space is between the “.exe” and “ftpbatch”. If you are not sure
which department communicates by TMCC or FTP, consult with the TEC
installation dealer.

MAIN MENU
Sort/Search Database
There are six ways to sort the database, the default sort order is
DEPTPLU. The first button sorts by either the DEPT number or the PLU
number. When sorting by DEPT, the PLU numbers might not necessarily be
listed in numerical order. When sorting by PLU, the dept numbers might not
necessarily be listed in numerical order. The second button sorts by either
DEPTPLU or DEPTUPC. DEPTPLU index means that the database is
sorted by dept number then each dept is sorted by
PLU number. The third button sorts by
DEPTCOM1 (commodity line 1) or
DEPTBATCH. The DEPTCOM1 sorts by dept
number then each dept is sorted alphabetically by
commodity line 1. The DEPTBATCH sorts by
department number then by PLU batch flag. To search the database for a
specific PLU number, simply type the PLU number into the textbox (the
enter key is not required). The database is searched after every digit is
entered. The PLU number that is less than or equal to the PLU number
entered will be highlighted. Valid numbers are from 1 to 999999.

Send PLU’s/Ingredient’s/Nutrition by Batch
In ScaleView, the term “batch” simply refers
to any record in the database that has it’s’ “batch
checkbox” checked. There is only 1 checkbox for
all 38 lines of Ingredients per PLU. For PLU’s only, the column under
Batch in the PLU Table will have a 1 if the box is checked, or a 0 if it’s
unchecked. To send by batch, click on the appropriate button, select the dept
the PLU(s), Ingredients, or Nutrition reside in, and click yes. All the PLU(s),
Ingredients, or Nutrition in the selected dept that are “checked” for batch
will be sent to all the scales in that dept. If a PLU is new and has not yet
been sent to the scale, make sure to send the PLU’s before sending the
Ingredients of Nutrition. If communications is successful, the checkbox’s
will become unchecked. If there is an error at any scale, all the item’s
checkbox’s will remain checked.

View Button
This button shows the entire database. Note that the
columns of the database can be sized to fit the data.

Log
All communication attempts (successful and unsuccessful)
to/from any scale will be recorded in the log file (tmcc.log). Some
errors may not be the result of a communication problem. For
example, “Data Error… Dept 1 PLU 1” means that there is a conflict
between the PLU and a setting of the scale (usually tare or price per field).
By pressing the button once the log file will appear. After closing
the form the button will change to Clear Log. At this time if you
don’t want to clear the log press the button and click “no”. The
button will change back to Log. The log file should be cleared on a regular
basis. If the size of the file reaches 40 Kbytes a warning message will
appear. Every time ScaleView is started a copy of tmcc.log is created
(tmcc.sav). If the log is cleared by mistake, exit ScaleView, re-name
tmcc.sav to tmcc.log and re-start ScaleView. If you are not sure how to do
this then call your authorized dealer.
Set Back
Set Back is used with PLU Sale Price and Sale Number.
            During PLU maintenance, input the
Sale Price and Sale Number. Valid
Sale Numbers are 1 – 9. Sale prices are down
loaded to scale instead of regular prices
during PLU Batch down load or complete file
download. When the sale is over click on the
Set Back icon. A prompt will appear asking
Enter Sale Number. After selecting a number
and clicking “Yes”, another prompt will appear to confirm your selection.
All PLU Sale Prices
with that Sale
Number will be set to
“0.00”, the PLU
batch flag will be set,
and the Sale Number
will be set to “0”. This clears all PLU’s Sale Prices regardless of what
department they are in for that Sale Number.
To send the updated prices to the scale, click on PLU Batch icon and select
the department. Remember to do this for each department that had this same
Sale Number.

Reports
There are 7 Crystal reports (PLU price, PLU detail, ,
Ingredients, Nutrition, PLU sale price (SPrice), PLU/Nutr Batch
and Ingredient Batch) that allow displaying and/or printing the
databases. You may choose the entire database or select individual
departments. Sale price report is by sale number. You may enter an
individual sale number, a range (i.e. 1-3) or leave blank for all sale numbers
(including 0).
