How to add and delete Blocks in Moodle. When you log in to a course you will see a screen similar, although not the same as this one. Content is displayed in the larger area in the center. Along each side are various features which you may or may not want visible in your Moodle page. These various features are called Blocks. To control the content and look of your page you need to click the “Turn Editing On” button here. (NOTE: Students do not have this button, only teachers, course creators and administrators.) Click it now.
Notice that the screen is essentially the same however several icons in each area have been added which allow you to move edit or add things.
I have zoomed in on one section to show you the icons and what they mean. From left to right, the icons function as follows. This icon will move this block to the right. This icon will move the block up or down. This icon will allow you to edit the text. The X will delete the block. Use with care. It is better to hide a block then delete it. The Eye will hide or reveal a block and the last icon will assign groups if you have created them.
Should you wish to get rid of an existing block, click here to hide it or click here to delete it.
If you delete it and change your mind, you can add it back by scrolling down to the Add Blocks area and drop down the list. Choose your block and it will be added. You can then position it by using the arrow icons mentioned above.
