Company Makes Subtle but Significant Change to Residential Business

February 18, 2011 11:02 AM Eastern Time

DALLAS--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Hillwood announced today it has established InnovationHillwood, a
think tank task force created to cultivate forward thinking initiatives on community design, technology, conservation
and education. The think tank will be made up of industry veterans and experts, with its inaugural members to be
announced later this year.

“For two decades Hillwood’s name has been synonymous with innovation and master planning excellence,” said
Ross Perot Jr., Chairman of Hillwood. “The goal for InnovationHillwood is to continue raising that bar and put a
discipline around what we do. We are assembling the best in each of these fields to continually guide us to meet our
objectives and become even smarter about how we plan our communities.”

The company is also making a subtle but significant change to the name of its single-family residential development
business. The new name, Hillwood Communities, was created to reflect the company’s 22 years of developing
successful master planned communities and also point toward its future growth.

“It’s simple, subtle and subliminal,” said Fred Balda, President of Hillwood Communities. “Our new tag line ‘Live
Smart’ reconfirms our strong commitment to our industry, to the realtors who sell our communities and ultimately to
the homebuyers.”

Balda said the company has established five Live Smart development principles:

1- Master Planning and Sense of Community

2- Technology

3- Healthy Living

4- Environmental Stewardship

5- Education and Enrichment

In the near future, Hillwood Communities will announce several new communities, the first being Rocky Creek, a
468-acre residential community in southwest Austin, which will open in March. Updates can be followed on the new
web site, www.hillwoodcommunities.com.

Hillwood Communities is a multifaceted residential development company committed to building world-class
communities for families since 1988. Hillwood has also built a powerful reputation as one of the most highly-
regarded and well-known developers in the business. The company has delivered more than 20,000 single-family
lots in more than 60 cities, primarily in North Texas. What began in its home market of Dallas-Fort Worth has now
expanded into other Texas markets—Austin, San Antonio and Houston and major markets, including Wyoming,
Florida, California, Nevada, Hawaii and Costa Rica. More information can be found at
www.hillwoodcommunities.com.
Hillwood, (www.hillwood.com) a Perot company, is ranked as one of the top commercial real estate developers in
the country and the top residential developer in Dallas-Fort Worth. In addition to AllianceTexas, Hillwood is best
known for its development of AllianceCalifornia near Los Angeles and the $420-million American Airlines Center
near downtown Dallas.
