How to Upload Due Diligence Forms and ALS Applications etc J Polly November 2006 "Regular" ALAC members have "author" permissions. They can write articles for the site but they cannot make them live on the production site. Nashton is set with "Administrator" permissions and will be able to do the work below. "Authors" cannot do this. Before you start: Go here http://alac.icann.org/applications/ And get the: Number Name And URL of the application you're going to add. Next Step: all due diligence documents you want to upload to the library must be PDFs loaded on your hard drive. (Word allows you to "print" to a PDF.) Suggestion-- rename the pdf with the NUMBER of the application first. This makes it easier to find when you want to upload it. Save all your DD applications in a special folder on your drive. Got everything? OK you're ready. Use Firefox (not Safari; IE may work, other browsers I am not sure about) OK, Log in to http://www.icannalac.org as nashton. On the lower left menu under "Committee Menu" click on "Reports" On the next screen, you will get this QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. Click on the little edit icon to the extreme right of "ALS Application and Due Diligence Library" You will get An edit screen that looks like this QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. NOTE the two icons top right. A disk icon SAVES to the production site. The X icon cancels and closes the file. VERY VERY important: when you are done you MUST click one or the other of these icons or the file will remain open and you will not be able to get back in to edit it. (If you forget this can be closed via another way but more on that later.) Also- there is a timer and this edit page will only remain open for so long. If you have a lot of entries to do you should click on the disk icon to save your work after each entry. This will dump you back to the icannalac home page but at least you will still be logged in. and some of the changes will have been made. Click "Reports" again and pick up where you left off to do an additional entry. You have been warned! You are going to add a new entry, but you need to make space for it. Put the cursor to the left of the topmost entry and click. See how the screen changes slightly, with sizing bars around the Barbados field: QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. Now mouseover the icon directly above Name and above that, "Size" and notice that it says ADD ROW. Click it. You will get this choice: QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. Click OK to insert a row above the selection. Enter the information you have. QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. IF ICANN has loaded the application to the alac.icann.org website, now it is time to make the link to it, Highlight the name of the ALS, click on the icon above DD Report that looks like a globe with a chain link. You will get a window like this QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. Click on the "Web Location" globe on the lower left. In the next screen, paste in the URL and be sure to put something in the TITLE field that will act as the alt tag. Example "application" or something. Now you're going to upload the due diligence report. Type in the date the DD report was distributed to ALAC. Highlight the date. Look for the icon above the DD Report column that looks like a red Acrobat document with a chain link. If you mouseover it it says "Link to a Document." QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. Click there to upload your PDF. You will get a screen that looks like this: QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. In the upper right look for the Upload a Document box. Browse your hard drive to find the pdf. Select it. It will now appear in the box. Click Upload. You will get an "uploading document" message. When that is over, you will see the pdf document has been linked. QuickTime™ and a TI FF (LZW) decompressor are needed to see this picture. Use the center justification controls as needed. You can obviously do more, prettify it, add colors etc. Otherwise, you're done. Click the disk icon to save (or the X to close and cancel). Let ALAC know the library has been updated. The instructions to give ALAC are: Visit the ALAC document library for handy links to applications and all due diligence reports: Login to your account on http://icannalac.org/ On the left menu scroll down until you see "Committee" and then under it click on "Reports." On the next screen click on "ALS Application and Due Diligence Library." The ALS applications are linked there. Click on the date to get the due diligence reports. They are available as pdfs.
