How to Download Document Direct Information into Excel
1. Go to the NELA website at www.nela.net. Click on Schools. Then select Document Direct. 2. The Document Direct screen will appear. Click launch DocumentDirect now.
3. Click on NELA - Reports
4. You will be prompted to enter the Recipient ID and Password assigned to your organization. Click OK.

5. Then click NELA – Reports and choose Report.

Click on AVPBRS8A, Delinquent Borrowers By School Report (download only).
7. The screen may display the previous month’s reports. Click on the the option and click for the most recent report.

8. The “green bar” report will be displayed on your screen. Click the Download button.
9. The “Download” screen will appear. Unclick “Compress into ZIP archive format.” Then click Create.
10. The screen appearance will change- there will be no more green bars.

12. The Notepad screen will appear as it does below.
13. Click File and choose Save As.

14. Save the text file in the directory/location of your choice.
15. Next, open Microsoft Excel. Click the Open Button on the upper left-hand corner. Pay attention to the Files of Type field on the bottom of the screen and change the file type to All Files(*,*) and find the name of the document you saved in step 15. Press Open.
16. The “Text Import Wizard” window will appear as “Step 1 of 3”. In The Original Data Type section choose Delimited, and then click NEXT.

17. The “Step 2 of 3” window now appears. In the Delimiters section the Tab field will be checked. You will also need to check the Comma box, and then click NEXT.
18. The “Step 3 of 3” window will appear. In the Column Data Format section click on General. Then click on the FINISH button.
19. The Excel spreadsheet will arrange the data by itself.
