  Act No.26 of 1980


 An act to regulate and control the manufacture,
 importation, sale and distribution of food. To
 establish a food advisory committee, to repeal
 the food and drugs act of 1949.
There are 4 parts in it;
 PART 1- Prohibition in respect of food

 PART 3- Legal proceedings

  Food Authority in relation to imported

  Authority in respect of excisable articles;
 All Local Authorities approved by the
  Minister are Food Authorities.

One of the authorized officer appointed
 under the provisions of the food act

He has power to enter any premises at any
 time ,examine, seize ,take samples from any
 article of food

      bakeries ,hotels, restaurant, snack bar, etc……
   Inspection of food handling establishments
   Food sampling- formal/ informal/seizing
   No. of awareness programs done on food hygiene- traders, public
    ,school
   Slaughter of animals
PHI MONTHLY REPORT
IF UNSATISFACTORY FOOD ITEMS DETECTED…

  3 Samples & sealed in front of the manufacturer

  with an evidence
