It’s been a number of months since we last published this column as for some reason letter
-to-the-editor writing has slowed down. Nonetheless we have a number of pro-life letter
writers to recognize at this time: Anita Guariglia, Robert L. Dougherty, John
McGowan, Lawrence Longua, Edward McKee, Catherine N. Dillon, and Frederick R.
Bedell Jr., all in The Long Island Catholic; Dr. Lisa A. Honkanen and Charles Akalski
Jr. in Newsday; Thomas Callan in the New York Post; and Thomas E. Dennelly in
National Catholic Register. Congratulations to successfully published letter writers and
thanks to all who wrote pro-life letters to the editor, published or not. Thanks also to The
Long Island Catholic for being the most consistent publisher of pro-life letters on Long Island. Please keep writing
to all media and please send us your published letters.
Congratulations! Allison O’Brien has been appointed Director of the
Respect Life Office for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. The L.I. Coalition for Life

this opportunity to thank Msgr. Francis Maniscalco for all his assistance while in this position.
Please note the Respect Life Office has moved to 50 N. Park Ave., Rockville Centre, NY 11571.
Allison can be reached at 516-678-5800, ext. 381 or 626 or by email at email@example.com. We

INTRODUCING FEMINISTS CHOOSING LIFE OF NEW YORK (FCLNY) –
Your Invitation to Join
Feminists Choosing Life of New York has teamed with The Center for Bioethics and Culture to educate the
public about the potential dangers and complications to women who donate their eggs for in-vitro fertilization or
research. The documentary film, “Eggsploitation,” produced by Jennifer Lahl, National Director of the Center
for Bioethics and Culture calls attention to the dangers of dehumanizing women, treating them as “farms” and
their eggs as a commodity, through the personal narratives of women who have experienced the procedure of
harvesting their eggs and who have been harmed. FCLNY sponsored a showing of the film in Buffalo. The film
is available for purchase at www.eggsploitation.com.
The women in this film give human face to the arguments that FCLNY is trying to make in their lawsuit,
FCLNY vs. Empire State Stem Cell Committee. This case attempts to prevent New York State from
compensating women for donating their eggs for research. The case, as of 1/15/2011, is in the appeals stage.
FCLNY welcomes new members who recognize that in every abortion there are two victims, who
believe that authentic feminists are pro-life. Please call 585-234-5416 or go to feministschoosinglife.org and
join or to ask about the FCLNY lobby day in Albany on 4/12/11. PS--FCLNY has challenged its friends and
members to DO ONE THING for the pro-life movement and then tell them about it. The DO ONE THING
challenge was inspired by a 9/27/1897 letter from Susan B. Anthony to Laura Reynolds regarding the Suffrage
Movement. Susan B. Anthony's words are relevant today in our fight to save the unborn from abortion, "If
every woman would, like yourself, do the one thing she knows how to do and has the time to do, as you are
setting them the good example, a great deal would be done for our good cause"
Kelly Brunacini, FCLNY exec.dir
